Nokia announced a bunch of new handsets at this year’s MWC at Barcelona. However, the two handsets that we will discuss in today’s article are the Nokia 7 Plus – the successor to the Nokia 7, and the Nokia 8 Sirocco – the successor to last year’s  Nokia flagship – the Nokia 8. Let us check out the features of both of these handsets and then discuss their launch prospects for India. We will also talk about the expected price at which they would launch in India.

Nokia 7 Plus and Nokia 8 Sirocco: Design, Display

The Nokia 7 Plus is an enhanced version of the Nokia 7 from last year. The handset features an aluminium body and glass-clad front and rear panels along with copper edges. The handset gets a 6-inch IPS LCD display in the 18:9 aspect ratio and 1080 x 2160 pixels resolution with Gorilla Glass 3 layer for scratch resistance and durability.

As for the Nokia 8 Sirocco, this handset gets a smaller 5.5-inch P-OLED display with higher (1440 x 2560 pixels) resolution. This translates to a higher PPI density figure of 534.  The display, however, continues to be in the traditional 16:9 aspect ratio. The phone also features Gorilla Glass 5 layer for scratch resistance. The phone features a stainless steel frame and front and glass layers on both the sides. The handset also happens to be IP67 water and dust resistant.

Nokia 7 Plus and Nokia 8 Sirocco: Hardware

The Nokia 7 Plus is a mid-range handset that is powered by the Qualcomm SDM660 Snapdragon 660 SoC. For graphics, the phone uses the Adreno 512 GPU. It is offered in a single 4GB RAM + 64GB storage version and uses a 3800 mAh non-removable battery. The phone also gets a microSD card slot for adding additional memory.

The Nokia 8 Sirocco gets Qualcomm’s flagship class processor – the Qualcomm MSM8998 Snapdragon 835. While a fast processor, this processor is from 2017 and has been succeeded by the new Qualcomm 845 chipset this year. The phone gets 6GB of RAM and 128gB of internal storage and a micro SD card slot for additional memory expansion.

Both the handsets run a near-stock version of Android 8 Oreo.
