Today’s comparison consists of three smartphones, with two being the latest and one being the flagship for the year it debuted. The Galaxy S9 Plus comes with a 6.2-inch Super AMOLED display with 18.5:9 aspect ratio bearing a resolution of 1440 x 2960 pixels and 529 PPI density score. The iPhone X, on the other hand, features a 5.8-inch super AMOLED display with 1125×2436 pixels resolution, 19.5:9 aspect ration with a density of 458PPI. The iPhone 7 Plus pales out in this comparison with a 5.5-inch LED-backlit IPS LCD display with 1080×1920 pixels resolution and offering pixel density of 401PPI.
When it comes to the display comparison, only Apple’s iPhone X and Samsung’s Galaxy S9 Plus come head-to-head with each other. Both feature great displays, but if you do not like the new notch design of the iPhone X then you have a perfect alternative in the form of Galaxy S9 Plus.

The Galaxy S9 Plus comes powered by Samsung’s proprietary Exynos 9810 SoC with Mali-G72 MP18 GPU and 6GB of RAM. For storage, the phone is available in 64GB and 256GB storage variants. A 3500mAh battery backs the Galaxy S9 Plus with support for wireless charging and fast charging. The phone runs Android 8.0 Oreo out-of-the-box with Samsung’s customised UI on top.
The iPhone X is powered by a hexa-core 2.39GHz chipset that utilises two high-performance CPU cores (Monsoon) clocked at 2.39GHz and four power-efficient CPU cores (Mistral). The iPhone X offers 3GB RAM and 64GB internal storage. The phone runs iOS 11 out-of-the-box and is backed by a 2716mAh battery.
The iPhone 7 Plus comes powered by Apple A10 Fusion chipset with four cores responsible for performance and efficiency. It features 3GB of RAM, 32GB/128GB/256GB storage variants. A 2915mAh battery completes the package. On the software front, the iPhone 7 Plus shipped with iOS 10 but has now been upgraded to iOS 11.
In terms of performance comparison, the Galaxy S9 Plus and iPhone X outshine the iPhone 7 Plus with their latest chipsets and enhanced software.

The Galaxy S9 Plus sports 12MP+12MP dual rear camera setup with LED flash. The twin lens setup offers a depth of field when taking pictures. The iPhone X also bears similar rear camera specs with 12MP+12MP dual lens setup. Both the Galaxy S9 Plus and iPhone X can record 4K (2160p) videos at 30fps and are geared with optical image stabilization (OIS) and phase detection autofocus (PDAF) for rapid focus. However, Galaxy S9 Plus takes the upper hand with its Super Slow-mo feature that records slow-motion videos at 960fps. On the front, the Galaxy S9 Plus features an 8MP f/1.6 selfie shooter, whereas the iPhone X settles at a 7MP f/2.2 front camera. Also, both the Galaxy S9 Plus and iPhone X support Face unlocking feature, that unlocks the device by mapping the user’s face.
The iPhone 7 Plus also comes with 12MP+12MP dual lens setup on the rear, with both the lenses bearing f/1.8 and f/2.8 aperture, respectively. One of the lenses on the rear supports 2X optical zoom. Both the lenses render support for phase detection autofocus and for taking shots in low-light condition there is LED dual tone flash. On the front, the iPhone 7 Plus features a 7MP selfie camera f/2.2 aperture.
There is not a lot of difference when it comes to the camera specs of all the three devices. The iPhone 7 Plus still holds its spot even though it was launched in 2016.

The Samsung Galaxy S9 Plus is priced at Rs. 64,999 for the base version while the iPhone X is currently retailing at Rs. 80,999 for the base variant. The iPhone 7 Plus that was launched a year before the iPhone X, currently carries a price tag of Rs. 56,999.

Going by the specs, features, and pricing, we think the Galaxy S9 Plus is the best choice among the three. It is the latest offering from Samsung and is priced quite decently when compared with exorbitantly price iPhone X.
