
Telcos in India are currently facing the toughest of competition to stay in the market. With the advent of Jio, existing operators like Bharti Airtel, Vodafone, and Idea have suffered a significant blow. Jio’s debut was laced with affordable 4G packs, free 4G data, and free voice calls. This aggressive strategy followed by Reliance Jio shook the telecom market while benefitting the consumers. However, other telcos did not budge and tried to compete with Jio by resorting to cheaper plans and 4G data packs. The first telco to come head to head with Jio was Bharti Airtel with its new plans geared with huge data and voice calling benefits. Soon, other telcos followed Airtel’s lead and launched similar plans offer 2GB/2.5GB per day data.
Currently, Jio offers prepaid plans priced at Rs. 198, Rs. 398, Rs. 448 and Rs. 498, with each plan offering 2GB data per day under the validity period whereas, Airtel has Rs. 349 prepaid plan with 2.5GB per day data for 28 days. On the other hand, Vodafone has Rs. 348 plan with 2.5GB data per day while Idea has Rs. 357 prepaid plan with 2GB data every day for 28 days validity period.
Jio Prepaid Plans with 2GB Data Explained: Rs. 198 plan, Rs. 398 plan, Rs. 448 plan, and Rs. 498 plan
Jio currently offers four types of prepaid plans to suit each segment of consumers. The Rs. 198 plan offers 56GB of 4G data for 28 days, capping at 2GB data per day for the period. It also includes unlimited local, STD and roaming voice calls along with 100 free SMSes and access to Jio apps.
The Rs. 398 plan offers 140GB of 4G data for 70 days, capping at 2GB data per day for the period. It also includes unlimited local, STD and roaming voice calls. Additionally, consumers also get 100 free SMSes and subscription to Jio apps.
Similarly, the Rs. 448 plan offers 168GB of 4G data for 84 days, which is capped at 2GB data per day for the validity period. It also includes unlimited local, STD and roaming voice calls. Just like other Jio plans, this one also offers 100 free SMSes and subscription to Jio apps.
Lastly, the Rs. 498 plan by Reliance Jio offers 182GB of 4G data for 91 days, distributed into 2GB data per day. Once the consumer reaches the 2GB data limit for each day, the speed of internet gets capped. This one also comes with unlimited local, STD and roaming voice calls along with 100 free SMSes and access to Jio apps.
Airtel Rs. 349 Prepaid Plan with 2.5GB Data
The Rs. 349 prepaid recharge plan by Airtel offers 70GB of 3G/4G data for 28 days. After reaching the daily limit of 2.5GB per day, the internet speed gets capped. The pack also includes unlimited Local and STD calls for non-commercial usage. It also offers 100 free SMSes.
Vodafone Rs. 348 Prepaid Plan with 2.5GB Data
Competing closely with Airtel, Vodafone’s Rs. 348 prepaid plan also comes with 70GBs of 3G/4G data with a limit of 2.5GB data per day, for 28 days. Vodafone also offers unlimited local, STD and roaming voice calls with the pack alongside 100 free SMSes.
Idea Rs. 357 Prepaid Plan with 2GB Data
Last on the list is Idea’s Rs. 357 prepaid recharge plan offering 56GB of 3G/4G data, divided into 2GB data per day. The validity of this packs is 28 days, and after crossing daily data limit, the internet speed gets capped and renewed the next day. Users also get unlimited local, STD and roaming voice call bundled with 100 free SMSes.
All the four telcos have similar data plans, however, Reliance Jio offers better-segmented plans that could woo the consumers, especially the students who don’t want to spend a lot every month on their mobile bills.
