Motorola’s G series smartphones have done really well in India ever since the company launched the first generation Moto G back in November 2013. The Moto G Series is in the 5th generation as of now, and currently, Motorola sells the Moto G5, Moto G5 Plus, Moto G5S, and the Moto G5S Plus models in the country. In the next few months, Motorola is slated to bring the brand new Moto G6 series to India. While the company is yet to officially announce the new G6 series, there are several leaked images of handsets from the soon-to-be-launched G6 series already doing the rounds of the interweb. Another phone that has been talked about recently is the Moto E5 Plus. In today’s comparison, we will do a specs comparison of the Moto G5s, the Moto G6, and the Moto E5 Plus.

Moto E5 Plus vs. Moto G6 vs. Moto G5s: Design, display

The Moto E5 Plus from what is currently known is likely to feature an aluminium body and will come with a large 5.8-inch IPS LCD display. The display resolution is likely to be 720 x 1440 pixels, in the new 18:9 aspect ratio. The phone is also likely to get some sort of scratch protection in the form of Gorilla Glass 3.

The Moto G6, another unreleased handset is rumoured to get a glass-clad back panel and an aluminium frame. The display on the Moto G6 is likely to be an IPS LCD panel that will measure 5.7-inches across with a resolution of 1080 x 2160 pixels in the 18:9 aspect ratio. This phone will also get a Gorilla Glass 3 layer for scratch resistance.


The Moto G5s gets an aluminium body and scratch resistance front glass. The display measures 5.2-inches across and happens to be an IPS LCD panel. The screen is in the 16:9 aspect ratio and has a resolution of 1080 x 1920 pixels.

Being an entry-level handset, the Moto E5 Plus is likely to be powered by an entry-level SoC as well. Unfortunately, at this point, there is no confirmed information pertaining to the SoC that the E5 Plus is likely to use. The phone is likely to get 3GB of RAM and could come in 32GB and 64GB versions.

As for the Moto G6, this phone is likely to be powered by the Qualcomm SDM450 Snapdragon 450 SoC and will use the Adreno 450 GPU for graphics. It is likely to be offered in two versions; a 3GB RAM +32GB version and a 4GB RAM + 64GB variant. The phone is likely to get a 3,000 mAh battery as well.

The Moto G5s is powered by the Qualcomm MSM8937 Snapdragon 430 chipset and comes with 32GB of internal memory and 4GB of RAM. The phone uses the Adreno 505 GPU for graphics and has a 3,000 mAh battery as well.

Moto E5 Plus vs. Moto G6 vs. Moto G5s: OS Updates, software

The Moto E5 Plus is likely to run the newest version of Android – Android 8.0 Oreo at the time of its launch later this year. The phone being a Motorola will run a near-stock version of Android.

The Moto G6 like the E5 Plus is also likely to run Android 8.0 Oreo.

The Moto G5s also runs Android 7.1.1 and is likely to get an official update to Android 8 Oreo in the near future.

Moto E5 Plus vs. Moto G6 vs. Moto G5s: Camera, imaging

The Moto E5 Plus is likely to get a dual camera setup at the rear consisting of a 13-megapixel primary camera and a 5-megapixel secondary shooter. The front camera is also likely to be a dual camera setup that will include a 5-megapixel camera mated to another 2-megapixel shooter. Video recording can be done in 1080p resolution at 30fps.

The Moto G6 is likely to get a dual camera setup at the rear as the primary camera. This will most likely include a 12-megapixel primary camera and a 5-megapixel secondary shooter. At the front, the phone is likely to get a 16-megapixel camera with f/2.0 aperture. As for video recording, the phone will support full HD video recording at 30fps.

The Moto G5s gets a 16-megapixel. f/2.0 primary camera with support for phase detection autofocus and a secondary 5-megapixel camera with f/2.0 lens. Both these cameras get an LED flash for low light imaging. Video recording can be done in 1080p resolution at 30fps.
