While there is no denying that Xiaomi is in the process of steamrolling most of its competitors in India, the story in China – Xiaomi’s home market is somewhat different. In China, another familiar Chinese company has constantly been topping the smartphone market share charts. We’re talking about none other than Huawei. In China, Huawei is the number one smartphone brand ahead of Oppo, Vivo, and Xiaomi. In India too, the company has been fairly successful and sells smartphones under both its brands – Huawei and Honor. In today’s article, we will do a comparative analysis of three smartphones from Huawei/Honor. These handsets include the newly announced Honor 7C and the Huawei Y9 (2018) and the recently launched Honor 9 Lite. Of the three, only the Honor 9 Lite is currently on sale in India.
Honor 7C vs Huawei Y9 (2018) vs Honor 9 Lite: Design, Display
The Honor 7C gets an aluminium body and ships with an IPC LCD display that measures 5.99-inches across. This display is in the 18:9 aspect ratio and has a resolution of 720 x 1440 pixels.
The Huawei Y9 also features an aluminium body and gets an IPC LCD display that measures 5.93 inches diagonally. With a display resolution of 1080 x 2160 pixels, the phone boasts of a PPi density score of 407. The display is also in the 18:9 aspect ratio.
The Honor 9 Lite ships with a 5.65-inch IPS LCD display – the smallest among these three. This is also in the 18:9 aspect ratio and has a resolution of 1080 x 2160 pixels thereby ending up with a PPI density score of 428.

The Honor 7C finds itself powered by the Qualcomm SDM450 Snapdragon 450 SoC making it one of the few devices from Huawei to get a Qualcomm chipset. The graphics department is handled by the Adreno 506 GPU. The handset will be sold in two versions; a 3GB RAM +32G version and a 4GB RAM + 64GB variant. The battery capacity is 3,000 mAh.
The Huawei Y9 (2018) uses the HiSilicon Kirin 659 SoC from Huawei and gets the Mali-T830 MP2 GPU for graphics. The Huawei Y9 will be offered in a single 3GB RAM +32GB version. You can, of course, expand the memory further using microSD cards. The rated battery capacity of the phone is 4,000 mAh.
The Honor 9 Lite is also powered by the HiSilicon Kirin 659 SoC and uses the same Mali-T830 MP2 GPU for graphics. The phone comes in two versions; a 3GB RAM +32GB version and a pricier 4GB RAM +64GB variant. The rated battery capacity of the Honor 9 Lite is 3,000 mAh.
Honor 7C vs Huawei Y9 (2018) vs Honor 9 Lite: OS Updates, Software
The Honor 7C runs EMUI 8.0 atop an Android 8 Oreo core. The phone is already on the latest version of Android. It remains to be seen if the handset would be updated to subsequent newer Android versions. In fact, the other two handsets in this comparison – the Honor 9 Lite and the Huawei Y9 (2018) both run EMUI 8.0 atop Android 8 Oreo. It is too early to say of these phones will get the official node for Android P.

The Honor 7C gets a dual camera setup at the rear that consists of a 13-megapixel primary camera and a 2-megapixel secondary depth sensor. At the front, there is an 8-megapixel camera with LED flash. Video recording can be done in 1080p resolution at 30fps.
The Huawei Y9 (2018) also totes a dual camera setup consisting of a 16-megapixel primary shooter mated to a 2-megapixel depth-sensing camera. The front camera is also a dual camera setup that consists of a 13-megapixel, f/2.0 camera mated to a 2-megapixel depth-sensing camera. Video recording is capped at 1080p resolution at 30fps.
The Honor 9 Lite also features a quad camera setup (twin cameras at the front and the rear) and gets a 13-megapixel + 2-megapixel set up both at the front and the rear. Video recording tops out at 1080p.
Honor 7C vs Huawei Y9 (2018) vs Honor 9 Lite: Price in India, Sale
Currently, only the Honor 9 Lite is available for purchase in India. The Honor 9 Lite 32GB version with 3GB of RAM costs Rs.10,999 and is available on Flipkart exclusively via flash sale. The pricier version that costs Rs. 14,999 has 4GB of RAM and has 64GB of storage. The Honor 7C price in India is expected to range between 14000 to 16000. There are no updates on India pricing of Huawei Y9 (2018).
