
Popular Japanese watch brand Casio has announced the limited edition WSD-F20SC, its latest smartwatch targeted at all the adventurers out there. The smartwatch runs on Google’s Android Wear 2.0 operating system and comes equipped with all the features that adventurers would want from a smartwatch. It is compatible with both Android (running Android 4.3 or later) as well as iOS (running iOS 9.0 or later) smartphones.
Casio WSD-F20SC: Price, Availability
Casio has revealed that the new WSD-F20SC will be available for sale in late June. Since it is a limited edition variant, the company will only be selling 700 units of the smartwatch. Pricing hasn’t been confirmed just yet but you can expect it be priced well above the $500 (Rs.32,500 approx.) price tag of the WSD-F20, which went on sale last year.
Casio WSD-F20SC: Features, Specifications
The Casio WSD-F20SC features a 1.32-inch dual layer TFT LCD display with 320 x 300 pixel resolution and an anti-fouling coating. As you would expect from a premium smartwatch, Casio is using Sapphire crystal to protect the display on the WSD-F20SC. The limited edition smartwatch comes with ion-plated buttons on the side for enhanced wear resistance, while the field composite band has been designed to be strong yet lightweight. Its case back is made of forged stainless-steel for high durability. The watch is water resistant up to 50 meters and is also MIL-STD-810G certified for US military-grade environmental durability.
While Casio hasn’t specified the battery capacity, it does claim that the WSD-F20SC can provide up to 1 day of normal use when the GPS is not used. The battery needs to be charged using a magnetic charging terminal and takes approximately 2 hours to be recharged fully. Sensors onboard include Pressure (air pressure, altitude, accelerometer, gyrometer, and compass (magnetic). The watch also includes a microphone and a vibrator. Connectivity wise, you get Bluetooth 4.1 Low Energy and Wi-Fi IEEE 802.11 b/g/n.
