Last month, Indian smartphone vendor Lava announced the country’s first smartphone powered by Google’s Android Oreo (Go Edition) software, the Z50. The company has now revealed the final price of the smartphone, along with the availability details. Launched in partnership with Bharti Airtel, the Lava Z50 is eligible for the Rs.2,000 cashback under Airtel’s ‘Mera Pehla Smartphone’ initiative.
Lava Z50 Android Oreo (Go Edition): Price in India, Availability
The Lava Z50 Android Oreo (Go Edition) smartphone carries a marketing operating price (MOP) of Rs.4,400. However, since the smartphone has been launched under Airtel’s ‘Mera Pehla Smartphone’ program, consumers can get a cashback of Rs.2,000 on it. That brings the effective price of the Lava Z50 down to Rs.2,400. The smartphone will soon be available from Amazon India, Flipkart, Snapdeal, as well as over 100,000 offline retail stores across the country in Black and Gold colors.

The Lava Z50 comes with a 4.5-inch 480 x 854 FWVGA resolution display with 2.5D Corning Gorilla Glass layer on top for protection against damage. It runs on a MediaTek MT6737M quad-core processor clocked at 1.1 GHz. In terms of memory, the Lava Z50 is equipped with 1GB of RAM and 8GB of onboard storage. For further expansion, you get a dedicated microSD card slot that lets you add up to 128GB microSD cards. And since the smartphone runs Android 8.1 Oreo (Go Edition) software, it offers higher available internal storage compared to regular entry-level Android smartphones out there.
On the imaging front, Lava’s latest offering features a 5MP snapper on both sides. The front-facing camera has a soft LED flash as well, so you should have no problems taking selfies even in low-light. The smartphone’s internals are backed by a 2000mAh capacity battery. Connectivity options include Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0 Low Energy, GPS with A-GPS, and 4G VoLTE. The smartphone measures 135 x 66.6 x 9.7mm and weighs in at 140 grams.
