Oppo has announced its entry-level Android-based Oppo A1 smartphone internationally, and it is expected to launch in India soon. Around the same time, Motorola is expected to launch its two new entry-level smartphones, the Moto G6 Play and the Moto E5 Plus. So should you wait for them? If yes, then which smartphone would be better among the three? Here is a brief comparison.

The Oppo A1 features a 5.7-inch IPS LCD display with HD+ resolution, 18:9 aspect ratio, and bezel-less design. The Motorola Moto G6 Play and the Motorola Moto E5 Plus are also expected to feature a 5.7-inch IPS LCD display with HD+ resolution, 18:9 aspect ratio, and bezel-less design. So there isn’t any difference between the displays of the three devices, at least on paper.

The Motorola Moto G6 Play is expected to feature a single 12MP shooter, while the Moto E5 Plus is rumoured to have a 13MP + 5MP dual-camera setup for the primary camera. The Moto E5 Plus with its dual-camera has the edge over the other two devices, as it is capable of capturing images with bokeh effect.
As for the front-facing camera, the Oppo A1 has an 8MP camera sensor, while the Moto G6 Play and the Moto E5 Plus are expected to feature a 5MP + 2MP dual-camera setup. The Motorola Moto G6 Play is expected to feature Qualcomm Snapdragon 430 SoC paired with 4GB of RAM. Looking at the previous Moto E series devices, the Motorola Moto E5 Plus is expected to pack an octa-core chipset from MediaTek.
The Oppo A1 in spite of being a 2018 smartphone, comes with the outdated Android 7.1 Nougat OS. It would have been much nicer if the device came pre-installed with Android 8.0 Oreo. The Motorola Moto G6 Plus and the Motorola Moto E5 Plus are expected to come with Android 8.0 Oreo OS with stock Android UI.
Oppo A1 vs Moto G6 Play vs Moto E5 Plus: Battery, other Features
The Oppo A1 has 3180mAh battery, which is decent considering the screen size of the device. The Moto G6 Play is rumoured to have a 4000mAh battery and the Moto E5 Plus, like its predecessor, is expected to have a 5000mAh battery.
The Oppo A1 misses out on a fingerprint scanner, in spite of having a price tag of Rs. 14,399. Unlike the Oppo A1, the Moto G6 Play, and the Moto E5 Plus are expected to feature a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner.
Oppo A1 vs Motorola Moto G6 Play vs Motorola Moto E5 Plus: Verdict
If the Motorola Moto G6 Play and the Moto E5 Plus come with the rumoured specifications, they might beat the Oppo A1, as they will have a larger battery, newer operating system, and a better camera than the Oppo A1. Additionally, if the rumour of Moto G6 Play and Moto E5 Plus packing a fingerprint scanner is true, they have one more advantage over the Oppo A1. Now, between the Moto G6 Play and the Moto E5 Plus, we think the Moto E5 Plus would be a better device as it is rumoured to have a larger battery and also a dual-camera setup at the back.
