Called the Mi Mix 2s, this is an improved version of last year’s device with several new hardware updates. While an India launch is yet to be announced, we will in this article, go ahead and compare the Mi Mix 2s to its sibling from last year – the Mi Mix 2 and also the OnePlus 5T – the flagship offering from Xiaomi’s Chinese archrival BBK Electronics. The Mi Mix 2s and the Mi Mix 2 share a similar design language. Both the handsets feature toughed front glass, an aluminium frame and a ceramic black. Both the phones feature a similar IPS LCD display with a resolution of 1080 x 2160 pixels. This translates to a PPI density of 403. The panel is in the 18:9 aspect ratio and measures 5.99-inches.

The Mi Mix 2s is powered by the newest offering from Qualcomm – the Snapdragon 845 SoC. This chipset houses the Adreno 630 GPU for graphics. The phone will be sold in three versions – a base 6GB RAM + 64GB version, a mid-range 6GB RAM + 128GB version and a top of the line 8GB RAM + 25GB version. The handset gets a 3,400 mAh battery as well. As for the camera, the Mi Mix 2S gets a dual camera setup at the rear consisting of twin 12-megapixel cameras. At the front, there is a 5-megapixel shooter.
The Mi Mix 2 from 2017 is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 chipset – the flagship offering from Qualcomm from last year. The Mi Mix 2 is also offered in three versions – a base 6GB + 64GB version, followed by a 6GB + 128GB version and an 8GB + 256GB flagship variant. The battery capacity is also the same at 3,400 mAh. The camera at the rear is a single 12-megapixel unit while the front shooter is a 5-megapixel unit. The handset is capable of recording 4K videos as well.
The OnePlus 5T is also powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 chipset and comes in two versions in India – a base 6GB + 64GB version and a higher priced 8GB + 128GB variant. The OnePlus does not get a microSD slot for additional memory expansion. The phone gets a dual camera setup at the rear consisting of 16-megapixel and 20-megapixel cameras. At the front, the handset gets another 16-megapixel shooter. The phone can capture 4K videos at 30fps in the highest setting. The battery capacity of the OnePlus 5T is 3300 mAh.
Mi Mix 2s vs Mi Mix 2 vs OnePlus 5T: OS Updates, software
The Mi Mix 2s at launch will run MIUI 9.5 atop an Android 8 Oreo core. This is currently the newest version of Android. The Mi Mix 2 runs MIUI 9 and is still on Android 7 Nougat. The OnePlus 5T originally came with Android 7 Nougat and is being currently updated to Android 8 Oreo.

The Mi Mix 2s being the latest handset among the three does have an advantage when it comes to the hardware specs. However, we still do not know the price of the Mi Mix 2s and if it would eventually make it to India. The Mi Mix 2, however, is available for Rs.32,999 and is currently only sold in the 6GB + 128GB version in India. As for the OnePlus 5T, you can currently buy the OnePlus 5T for Rs. 32,999 for the base 6GB + 64GB version and Rs. 37,999 for the 128GB version.
