The Oppo F7 was launched this month and is currently priced at Rs. 21,990 for its base variant. The Vivo V9 launched a week ago and carries a price tag of Rs. 22,990. The Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 Pro was launched in February and is priced at Rs. 16,999 for its top variant.

The Oppo F7 and Vivo V9 are heavily inspired by the iPhone X’s design and have a bezel-less design with a notch at the top. While the Oppo has a 6.23-inch screen with a density of 405 pixels per inch, the Vivo V9 has a 6.3-inch screen with a pixel density of 400ppi. Both the Oppo F7 and Vivo V9 offer a resolution of 1080×2280 pixels. The Redmi Note 5 Pro skips the notch trend and offers a simple 18:9 wide angle view on its 5.99-inch IPS LCD display. The Note 5 Pro has a resolution of 1080×2160 pixels and a pixel density of 403ppi. The Oppo F7 and Redmi Note 5 Pro both come with Gorilla Glass protection for their screens.

The Oppo F7 has a MediaTek Helio P60 octa-core chipset (four A73s and four A53s running at 2.0GHz each) under the hood whereas the Vivo V9 is powered by an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 626 2.2GHz processor. The Redmi Note 5 Pro, on the other hand, is equipped with the all-new Qualcomm Snapdragon 636 octa-core 1.8GHz Kryo 260 SoC (system on chip).

The Oppo F7 and Vivo V9 offer 4GB RAM 64GB ROM configurations, with higher spec variants available. The Redmi Note 5 Pro offers 6GB RAM paired with 64GB internal storage. All three phones offer support for expandable memory up to 256GB via microSD card. While the Oppo F7 and Vivo V9 both offer Android Oreo (8.0) via the ColorOS and FunTouch forks respectively, the Redmi Note 5 Pro is currently at Nougat (version 7.1.2) on its MIUI OS.

As for battery life, the Oppo F7 comes with a 3400mAh cell, whereas the Vivo V9 is equipped with a 3260mAh battery. The Redmi Note 5 Pro’s battery has a capacity of 4000mAh, in comparison.

The Oppo F7 comes with a 16MP f/1.8 primary camera, whereas the Vivo V9 has a dual camera (16MP+5MP) setup on the back. The Redmi Note 5 Pro offers a dual camera rear array as well, with a 12MP lens combined with a 5MP shooter so you can take pictures and experiment with depth of field. While the V9 and Note 5 Pro are capable of recording 4K videos at 30 frames per second, the Oppo F7 lets you shoot 1080p videos at 30fps.

On the front, the Opop F7 sports a 25Mp selfie snapper, whereas the Vivo V9 almost matches it with its 24MP f/2.0 front shooter. The Redmi Note 5 Pro comes with a 20MP f/2.2 camera on the front, in comparison.

Of the three, the Redmi Note 5 Pro is the best of the three. While it may not have the bezel-less display and notchy design of the Oppo F7 and Vivo V9, it’s significantly cheaper and offers much more value for money. It has a superior processor and excellent battery life as well. So we are gonna go with the Redmi Note 5 Pro for this comparison shootout.
