After launching the Mi TV 4A 40-inch in China a few weeks ago, Xiaomi has launched a new Mi TV in the country today. It is an upgrade over the Mi TV 4 and comes with an AI voice assistant, a more premium metal frame design, and plenty of ports. It also comes with a Bluetooth remote for easier operation.
As its name suggests, the Mi TV 4S 55-inch features a 55-inch IPS LCD panel with 4K resolution and HDR content playback compatibility. It features standard 8-watt stereo speakers with support for DTS and Dolby Audio, three HDMI ports, and Bluetooth as well as Wi-Fi connectivity.
Mi TV 4S 55-inch: Price, Availability
The Mi TV 4S 55-inch price is set at CNY 2,999 (approximately, Rs. 31,000) in China. This price includes the cost of shipping. Xiaomi has started accepting pre-registrations for the sale of the Mi TV 4S 55-inch in the country, and it will go on sale for the first time on April 3, 2018.
Whether or not this TV will be launched in India remains to be seen. However, it is surprising to see that Xiaomi is selling the Mi TV 4S 55-inch in China at a cost that is much lower than the cost of the Mi TV 4 55-inch in India.
Mi TV 4S 55-inch: Features
The Mi TV 4S 55-inch uses a 55-inch IPS LCD panel with 4K resolution (3840×2160 pixels), 178-degree viewing angle, and HDR content playback abilities. The panel features direct backlighting, 60Hz refresh rate, and 8ms response time. It has a metal frame design, and the TV can be placed on a table or mounted on the wall. In terms of audio, it is equipped with two 8-watt stereo speakers, and the TV supports decoding DTS, DTS HD, and Dolby Audio. In terms of I/O, the Mi TV 4S 55-inch features three HDMI 2.0 ports with ARC (audio return channel), one optical audio input port, one RF cable input for cable TV signals, one ethernet port, two USB ports, and one S-PDIF port.
The Mi TV 4S 55-inch also features Bluetooth and Wi-Fi b/g/n connectivity. The remote control has an easy-to-use design and connects with the TV over Bluetooth. The TV also supports screen casting through smartphones and tablets. Since it has a microphone, you can use the remote to give voice commands not only for TV functions, but also other Xiaomi smart devices in your home. The TV runs Android-based PatchWall UI, and features an artificial intelligence-powered voice assistant as well as the Mi Video Player app for playing back offline and online videos. Xiaomi has used the quad-core Amlogic processor inside the TV, which is paired with 2GB RAM and 8GB ROM.
