Just as expected, HMD Global today launched the latest Nokia smartphone lineup in India. The new lineup includes the flagship Nokia 8 Sirocco, mid-range Nokia 7 Plus, and the budget Nokia 6 (2018) smartphone.
Nokia 6 (2018), Nokia 7 Plus, Nokia 8 Sirocco: Price in India, Sale Date, Launch Offers
The new Nokia 6 (2018) has been priced at Rs.16,999 in India and is set to go on sale in the country starting April 6 on Nokia Shop as well as at other leading retailers across the country. Airtel is offering a Rs.2,000 cashback on the Nokia 6 (2018) under the Mera Pehla Smartphone initiative. Along with the cashback, Airtel subscribers will be able to get extended Airtel TV subscription on the handset. Other launch offers include discount on MakeMyTrip hotel bookings, complimentary 12-month accidental damage insurance, No-cost EMI, and cashback on ICICI Bank and Bajaj Finserv cards.
The Nokia 7 Plus will cost Rs.25,999 in India and will be available for pre-booking starting April 20th on the Nokia Shop as well as Amazon India and select retail outlets. Similar to the Nokia 6 (2018), Airtel is offering a cashback of up to Rs.2,000 on the Nokia 7 Plus under the ‘Mera Pehla Smartphone’ initiative, along with an extended Airtel TV app subscription. Other launch offers include 5% cashback for ICICI Bank customers and no-cost EMI option.
Most expensive of the three smartphones launched today, the Nokia 8 Sirocco will retail in India for Rs.49,999. Pre-bookings for the handset will begin on April 20 at major offline retailers such as Croma, Reliance Digital, and Poorvika. It will also be available for pre-booking on Flipkart and the Nokia Shop online store. The smartphone is set to on sale in India starting April 30. Airtel is offering additional data benefits of up to 120GB on the Nokia 8 Sirocco. Prepaid Airtel subscribers can receive 20GB additional data on first 6 recharges of Rs.199 and Rs.349 packs, while Postpaid subscribers will get the same data benefit on the Rs.399 and Rs.499 plans for 6 months. Airtel subscribers can also get a free Airtel TV app subscription till December 31, 2018. Some of the other launch offers include No-cost EMI option, 5% cashback for ICICI Bank customers, and discount on MakeMyTrip hotel bookings.
Nokia 6 (2018): Specs, Features
The Nokia 6 (2018) succeeds the Nokia 6 budget Android smartphone that HMD introduced last year. It sports a 5.5-inch sized IPS LCD display with 1080 x 1920 Full HD resolution and is powered by an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 630 processor clocked at 2.2 GHz, coupled with an Adreno 508 GPU and 3GB of RAM. In terms of storage, the Nokia 6 (2018) will be available with 32GB of onboard storage. HMD isn’t bringing the 64GB variant to India, at least for now.
At the back of the handset is a 16MP single rear camera with PDAF, dual-tone LED flash, and an f/2.0 aperture lens. The smartphone includes an 8MP selfie camera on the front, coupled with an 84-degree wide-angle f/2.0 aperture lens. Connectivity options include Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n, Bluetooth 5.0 Low Energy, GPS with A-GPS, GLONASS, USB Type-C, and 4G VoLTE. It also comes with a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor and a 3000mAh battery with fast charging support. On the software front, Nokia 6 (2018) will be shipping with Android 8.0 Oreo OS out of the box. Key software features include Face Unlock, a Pro Camera mode with manual controls, and an AI-powered imaging suite. These features are also available on the Nokia 7 Plus and Nokia 8 Sirocco. The Nokia 6 (2018) comes in Blue Gold, Silver White, and Black colors.
Nokia 7 Plus: Specs, Features
The Nokia 7 Plus is HMD’s first mid-range Android smartphone to be launched in India. It comes with a 6-inch 1080 x 2160 Full HD+ resolution IPS display with an 18:9 aspect ratio. The phone is powered by a powerful Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 octa-core chipset clocked at 2.2 GHz with an Adreno 512 GPU and 4GB of RAM. In terms of storage, the Nokia 7 Plus comes with 64GB of eMMC 5.1 storage.
Moving on to imaging, the Nokia 7 Plus has a 12MP + 13MP dual-camera setup with ZEISS optics and 2x optical zoom. The selfie camera on the front is a 16MP unit with ZEISS optics. Connectivity options include Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac dual-band, Bluetooth 5.0 Low Energy, GPS with A-GPS, GLONASS, NFC, USB Type-C, and 4G VoLTE. Keeping the lights on is a large 3800mAh capacity battery with fast charging support. The mid-range handset also has a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor and Nokia OZO audio with three microphones. It comes in two colors – White/Copper and Black/Copper.
Nokia 8 Sirocco: Specs, Features
The Nokia 8 Sirocco comes with a 5.5-inch pOLED display that offers 1440 x 2560 Quad HD resolution display and is protected by a layer of Corning Gorilla Glass 5 on top. Under the hood, it runs on the same Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 chipset that powers the Nokia 8. However, the Nokia 8 Sirocco is equipped with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of UFS 2.1 storage. On the imaging front, the handset features a 12MP + 13MP dual-camera setup at the back with ZEISS Optics and 2x optical zoom. For selfies, the Nokia 8 Sirocco sports a 5MP resolution camera with 1.4um pixel size and ZEISS optics.
Connectivity features include Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac dual-band, Bluetooth 5.0 Low Energy, GPS with A-GPS, GLONASS, USB Type-C 3.1 Gen 1, NFC, and 4G VoLTE. The smartphone’s internals are fueled by a 3260mAh capacity battery with wired fast charging and Qi wireless charging support. Some of the other key features of the Nokia 8 Sirocco include a fingerprint sensor mounted on the back, an IP67 water and dust resistance, and Nokia OZO Audio with 3 microphones. In terms of software, the Nokia 8 Sirocco will ship with Android 8.0 Oreo OS out of the box, just like the Nokia 7 Plus and Nokia 6 (2018). The handset will only be available in a single color – Black.
