As announced by the company late last month, HMD Global will be holding a media event in India today to formally launch the newest Nokia smartphones in the country. HMD is expected to three new Android smartphones at the event – Nokia 8 Sirocco, Nokia 7 Plus, and the new Nokia 6 (2018). Apart from the three Android One smartphones, HMD is also expected to launch the Nokia 8110 4G feature phone that it debuted at MWC 2018 earlier this year.

HMD Global’s “Nokia Mobile India Launch 2018” event will be live-streamed on the Nokia Mobile India Facebook page. The launch event is scheduled to begin at 12:00 PM IST. Nokia India’s event details page reads “Having evolved in design, technology, and style – we bring to you a new range of smartphones in India; equipped with best of Android and Google services. Join us as we unveil the next milestone for Nokia phones via Facebook Live, on April 4th at 12:00 PM.”
Nokia 8 Sirocco, Nokia 7 Plus, Nokia 6 (2018): Expected Price in India
The Nokia 8 Sirocco is expected to be priced higher than the Nokia 8, which is currently available online for as low as Rs.26,499. It is likely that the handset will be priced at or around Rs.32,999 at launch. The mid-range Nokia 7 Plus, on the other hand, is expected to be priced somewhere between the Rs.20k to Rs.25k mark. It will directly compete against the recently launched OPPO F7 and Vivo V9 smartphones.
The Nokia 6 (2018) will be the most affordable of the three smartphones that are expected to be launched in India later today. We expect it to be priced somewhere around the Rs.15k mark, which means it will need to take on rivals such as the Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 Pro and the Honor 7X.
Nokia 8 Sirocco: Specifications, Features
The Nokia 8 Sirocco features a 5.5-inch pOLED display with 1440 x 2560 Quad HD resolution and Corning Gorilla Glass 5 on top for protection. Powering the smartphone is last year’s flagship Snapdragon 835 chipset, coupled with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of UFS 2.1 built-in storage. At the rear, Nokia 8 Sirocco has a 12MP + 13MP dual-camera setup with 2x optical zoom and 4K video recording. The selfie camera on the front is a 5MP unit with large 1.4um pixel size.
Connectivity wise, the smartphone supports Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac dual-band, Bluetooth 5.0 Low Energy, GPS with A-GPS, GLONASS, USB Type- C 3.1 Gen 1, NFC, and 4G VoLTE. The handset is backed by a 3260mAh capacity battery with fast charging and Qi wireless charging support. Nokia 8 Sirocco also offers a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor and an IP67 rating for water and dust resistance. On the software front, the Nokia 8 Sirocco is an Android One device running on Android 8.0 Oreo OS currently. As for physical dimensions, the smartphone measures 140.93 x 72.97 x 7.5mm.
Nokia 7 Plus: Specifications, Features
The mid-range Nokia 7 Plus comes with a 6-inch Full HD+ display with an 18:9 aspect ratio. It runs on an octa-core Snapdragon 660 chipset under the hood, coupled with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal memory. On the back of the phone is a 12MP + 13MP dual-camera setup, while on the front is a 16MP snapper.
In terms of connectivity, the Nokia 7 Plus supports all the latest standards such as Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac dual-band, Bluetooth 5.0 Low Energy, GPS with A-GPS, GLONASS, NFC, USB Type-C, and 4G VoLTE. Keeping the lights on is a 3800mAh capacity battery with fast charging support. The Android One smartphone runs on Android 8.0 Oreo OS out of the box. It measures 158.38 x 75.64 x 9.55mm in terms of physical dimensions.
Nokia 6 (2018): Specifications, Features
Successor to last year’s Nokia 6, the new Nokia 6 (2018) features a 5.5-inch display with Full HD resolution and Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection. Under the hood runs an octa-core Snapdragon 630 14nm processor, a significant upgrade over the Snapdragon 430 chipset that powers the Nokia 6. In terms of memory, the smartphone packs 4GB of RAM and comes in 32GB and 64GB storage variants.
In the camera department, Nokia 6 (2018) features a 16MP rear camera with PDAF and f/2.0 aperture and an 8MP front-facing camera with an f/2.0 aperture 84-degree wide-angle lens. Connectivity features include Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n, Bluetooth 5.0 Low Energy, USB Type-C, GPS with A-GPS, GLONASS, and 4G VoLTE. The smartphone’s internals are fueled by a 3000mAh battery with support for wired fast charging. Like the other two smartphones, the Android One Nokia 6 (2018) will ship with Android 8.0 Oreo OS out of the box. In terms of physical dimensions, the handset measures 148.8 x 75.8 x 8.6mm and weighs in at 172 grams.
