Oppo F7, a Bezel-less Mid-range Smartphone: Price in India, Specs, Features, Offers Overview

OPPO F7 (2)

The Oppo F7 is a newly launched mid-range smartphone, and it offers more than what a typical smartphone of the same price-range has. Below are the pricing details and other features of the Oppo F7 that you should know before buying.

Oppo F7: Specifications, Features

The main attraction of the Oppo F7 is its bezel-less display. The bezel-less display of the Oppo F7 follows the footsteps of the iPhone X: it has notch at the top of the display. Though the edge-to-edge display looks awesome, the notch may be hated by some. The display is a 6.23-inch IPS LCD unit with Full HD+ resolution covered in Corning Gorilla Glass 5.

The Oppo F7 in spite of being a smartphone that costs above Rs. 20,000, comes with a MediaTek P60 chipset. The MediaTek P60 chipset isn’t bad in terms of processing power, but it is definitely a no-match for the Snapdragon 636’s graphics capabilities. The Oppo F7 is offered in two variants in India, one with 4GB RAM and 64GB of storage, and the other one with 6GB RAM and 128GB storage variant. The device runs on Android 8.0 Oreo OS customised with ColorOS 5.0.

The Oppo F7 has a 16-megapixel primary camera and a 25-megapixel secondary camera. We are disappointed to see that the device does not offer a dual-camera setup when devices even under Rs. 10,000 are offering a dual-camera setup. Furthermore, the 16-megapixel primary camera that the device comes with, isn’t that impressive on paper either; it does not has OIS, dual-pixel autofocus, or even 4K video recording. So camera performance seekers, this isn’t a device for you.

The Oppo F7 packs a 3400mAh battery. The device does not support fast charging, courtesy of the MediaTek chipset. Unfortunately, the device still uses the microUSB port, which is a bummer for a smartphone of this price. Anyone buying a mid-range smartphone would expect a USB Type-C port along with fast charging.

The connectivity option of the Oppo F7 includes dual-SIM, 4G LTE, VoLTE, Wi-Fi b/g/n, Bluetooth v4.2, GPS, and a 3.5mm audio jack. The Oppo F7 also has a fingerprint scanner on the back for easy and secure unlocking. The 64GB storage variant of the Oppo F7 is available in Solar Red, Moonlight Silver, and Diamond Black colour option, whereas the 128GB storage variant is available in Diamond Black and Solar Red colour options.

Oppo F7: Price in India, Offers

The Oppo F7 was launched in India on 26th March 2018 with a price tag of Rs. 21,990 for the 64GB storage variant, and Rs. 26,990 for the 128GB storage variant. The Oppo F7 will be sold through online and offline channels. However, currently, the device is being sold only through Flipkart. Buying from Flipkart will fetch you 5% instant discount, provided that you either use ICICI bank or Axis bank credit or debit card for the payment. Flipkart is also offering No Cost EMI in collaboration with Baja Finance on the purchase of the Oppo F7.

Oppo F7: Is it worth?

The Oppo F7 lacks many features such as dual-camera setup, 4K video recording, USB Type-C port, fast charging, water and dust resistance, and dual-band Wi-Fi. All those features are offered by smartphones like Xiaomi Redmi Note 5, Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 Pro, Honor 7X, Xiaomi Mi Mix 2, etc. In short, the device doesn’t justify its price. If you ask us, we suggest you opt for cheaper smartphones, as they offer more than what the Oppo F7 offers. That said, the Oppo F7 is not a bad device, it is just that it could have been better.
