Huawei’s is gearing up to launch another smartphone under its sub-brand Honor. The latest phone to join Honor’s ever-growing lineup is dubbed Honor 10. According to some recent reports, Honor has already started sending out press invites for the launch event of the said smartphone. In all its glory, the Honor 10 is a successor to the Honor 9, which was a flagship phone from the company and falls into the same category as the Honor View 10.

Honor 10: Launch Event Details

Under the usual schedule, Honor mostly brings out new smartphones in the second quarter of the year but this time around the company seems to have decided to be an early bird. The predecessor to the Honor 10, the Honor 9 was launched in June, last year. This entire drill of launching devices earlier than the usual schedule seems to be in trend for manufacturers as Samsung is also expected to bring out the Galaxy Note 9 earlier than the general timeline. LG is also expected to join the trend soon.

As for the Honor 10, it will be unveiled in London on May 15. The media invite for the Honor 10 launch event comprises of a caption that reads ‘Beauty in AI’, which clearly hints at the device belonging to the flagship segment. One may even expect to be a lot similar to the recently launched Huawei Mate 10 and Huawei P20 smartphones.

Honor 10: Rumoured Specifications and Features

As is the case with a majority of upcoming handsets, the Honor 10 has also witnessed some leaks that hint at the specs and features that it could pack in. One thing that we can be somewhat assured of is that the Honor 10 is not a part of the notch trend. The image of the phone on the media invite does not showcase the notch feature, which was made popular with the iPhone X and was later followed by a slew of OEMs like Vivo and Oppo. Even OnePlus 6 has been confirmed to feature a notch. Interestingly, Huawei does not seem caught up with the notch trend for its Honor sub-brand.

One of the recent leaks about the Honor 10 indicates that the phone resembles the Huawei P20, but it does not seem to sport a notch. As for the other specs, the Honor 10 may feature a horizontal mounted dual rear camera bump, which has become a usual placement of the rear camera on Honor phones. The phone is expected to come powered by Huawei’s in-house Kirin 970 processor geared with AI-assisted auto mode as seen on the P20. It may also sport the same camera setup as the P20, but without LEICA branding. That’s all we know about the Honor 10 for now. Let’s take a look at what its predecessor, the Honor 9 packed in. It’s worth noting that Huawei did not launch the Honor 9 in India so there are chances that the Honor 10 might also get skipped.

Honor 9: Specifications and Features

The Honor 9 was launched with a dual rear camera setup with a 20MP primary sensor for monochrome and a 12MP secondary sensor for RGB, combined geared with f/2.2 aperture, PDAF, and two-tone LED flash. It packed in an 8MP camera on the front for selfies. The phone boasted a 5.15-inch full-HD LTPS display with a resolution 1080×1920 pixels and pixel density of 428ppi. Huawei’s own Kirin 960 processor powered it with 4GB/6GB RAM and 64GB/128GB storage.

Connectivity options on the phone included 4G with VoLTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, NFC, GPS/ A-GPS, and GPRS/ EDGE. On the software front, the phone ran Huawei EMUI 5.1 based on Android 7.0 Nougat. It measured 147.3×70.9×7.45mm and weighed 155 grams. The Honor 9 was launched in Amber Gold, Black, and Blue colour variants. For some reason, Huawei skipped launching this phone in India and instead came up with the Honor 9 Lite.
