OnePlus teased the OnePlus 6 with an image on Twitter and confirmed that the device will have a notch on display. Later, the company confirmed that users can mask the notch. However, we didn’t had a complete look at how the OnePlus 6 looks with the notch, until now. Thanks to Weibo, we now have, what seems to be the official renders of the device.
The leaked image showcases the front fascia of the device. The display has a notch at the top. The notch seems to have the front-facing camera and a couple of essential sensors like ambient light sensor and the proximity sensor. The rest of the frontal design is similar to the OnePlus 5T including the placement of power button, volume rocker, and alert slider. Also, there is no fingerprint scanner on the front, the device might have the fingerprint scanner on the back, but there is a possibility that OnePlus might include an in-screen fingerprint scanner.
OnePlus 6: Expected launch date and price in India
The OnePlus 6 is expected to launch in India as soon as it is announced internationally. OnePlus hasn’t yet confirmed the launch date. However, we expect the device to launch by the end of the April. The OnePlus 6 is expected to carry a premium of Rs. 2,000 over the OnePlus 5T, which will put the device in sub Rs. 40,000 price range.
OnePlus 6: Expected specifications and features
As we’ve mentioned above, the OnePlus 6 will have a bezel-less display, but the screen-size and panel type used is still unknown. We expect the device to have a 6.2-inch Super AMOLED display with Full HD+ resolution. The OnePlus 6 is rumoured to feature Snapdragon 845 SoC paired with 8GB of RAM. The rumour can be entirely true as OnePlus always launches its flagship smartphone with the industry-leading SoC by Qualcomm.
The OnePlus 6 is expected to run on the Android 8.1 Oreo OS, customised with Oxygen OS UI. The Oxygen OS UI in the OnePlus 6 is expected to pack more features than the existing Oxygen OS UI in the OnePlus 5T.
Moving to the camera department, the device is rumoured to feature the same 16MP + 20MP dual-camera setup at the back. We expect that the camera to feature 4K recording at 60 frames per second. We hope that OnePlus will equip the camera with OIS, which the OnePlus 5T missed. The front-facing camera is expected to remain same, along with the face unlock feature.
The OnePlus 6 is also expected to carry over the existing DashCharge fast charging, if not an improved version of it. The USB Type-C port in all the OnePlus devices have worked on the older USB 2.0 standard instead of the USB 3.0 standard. We expect OnePlus realises this and updates the USB port to the USB 3.0 standard in the OnePlus 6.
The OnePlus 6 is rumoured to pack a 3450mAh battery. The device is expected to have a metal unibody, or else a metal frame with glass at the back. Though many users have asked OnePlus to make their next flagship smartphone water and dust resistant, we doubt that the OnePlus has implemented it. OnePlus has confirmed that the device will have 3.5mm audio jack. However, recently, the ‘OnePlus Bullet Wireless’ headphones were leaked through Bluetooth certification website. The OnePlus Bullet Wireless headphones are expected to launch during the OnePlus 6 launch.
OnePlus 6 vs competition
The OnePlus 6 will compete directly with the upcoming Xiaomi Mi Mix 2s and the Nokia 9. The Xiaomi Mi Mix 2s and the Nokia 9 are expected to launch soon after the OnePlus 6 launch. The specifications of the Nokia 9 have been leaked, and it looks like OnePlus 6 will have a hard time to beat it. However, nothing can be said for sure until all the three smartphones are launched.
