The Oppo F7 and the Vivo V9 are two new smartphones to follow the footsteps of the iPhone X. Let us see how the two new bezel-less smartphones compete with the successor of the bezel-less trendsetter.

Vivo V9 vs Mi Mix 2 vs Oppo F7: Display

The Oppo F7 has a 6.2-inch IPS LCD display, and the Vivo V9 has a 6.3-inch display. Both the smartphones use IPS LCD panels, and both the displays have Full HD+ resolution. However, the Vivo V9 misses out on the Gorilla Glass protection, that the Oppo F7 offers.

The Xiaomi Mi Mix 2 has a 5.99-inch IPS LCD display with Full HD resolution. The display of the Mi Mix 2 is not only smaller but also has a lesser pixel density than the display of the other two smartphones, in spite of having a higher price tag. Nonetheless, the display of the Mi Mix 2 has brilliant viewing angles, punchy colours, and good sunlight visibility.

Vivo V9 vs Mi Mix 2 vs Oppo F7: Camera

The Vivo V9 has a 16MP + 5MP dual-camera setup at the back and a 24-megapixel shooter at the front. The primary camera is aided by phase-detection autofocus and LED flash, but that’s it; there is no OIS and no dual-pixel autofocus. The Oppo F7 is even worse; it doesn’t come with a dual-camera setup, which is expected from a smartphone of this price. The smartphone has a 16MP primary camera and a 25MP front-facing camera. The most irritating thing is the lack of the 4K video recording. Yes, the Oppo F7 doesn’t has 4K video recording in spite of being a mid-range smartphone.

The Xiaomi Mi Mix 2 has a 12MP primary camera with phase-detection autofocus, OIS, and LED flash. The primary camera of the Mi Mix 2 is a lot better than the primary cameras of the other two devices, but the front-facing camera of the Mi Mix 2 is very disappointing. The Mi Mix 2 has a 5MP secondary camera, which is a shame for a smartphone that costs above Rs. 30,000. It is not about the lower resolution of the front-facing camera; the image quality is disappointing.

Vivo V9 vs Mi Mix 2 vs Oppo F7: Performance

The Vivo V9 comes with Snapdragon 626 SoC, 4GB RAM, and 64GB of storage. The Oppo F7 has MediaTek P60 SoC, and the device is available in 4GB RAM and 6GB RAM variant. The 4GB RAM variant has 64GB of storage, and the 6GB RAM variant has 128GB of storage. While the Vivo V9 runs on Android 8.1 Oreo customised with FunTouch 4.0, the Oppo F7 has Android 8.0 pre-loaded with ColorOS 5.0 customisation.

Moving to the Xiaomi Mi Mix 2, it has Snapdragon 835 SoC mated with 6GB of RAM. The Snapdragon 835 SoC is way more powerful than the Snapdragon 626 and the MediaTek P60 combined, which is why it blows the other two devices of the water in terms of performance. The Xiaomi Mi Mix 2 runs on Android 7.1 Nougat customised with MIUI 9. Though the device has older OS, it is very polished and also packed with features.

Vivo V9 vs Mi Mix 2 vs Oppo F7: Battery

The Xiaomi Mi Mix 2 and the Oppo F7 have a 3400mAh battery, but only the Mi Mix 2 supports fast charging. The Vivo V9 has a smaller 3260mAh battery, and like the Oppo F7, it misses out on fast charging.

Vivo V9 vs Mi Mix 2 vs Oppo F7: Verdict

In our view, the Vivo V9 and the Oppo F7 are overpriced. The Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 Pro, which costs Rs. 10,000 less than the Oppo F7 and the Vivo V9, has a more powerful processor, better primary camera hardware, larger battery capacity, and also fast charging support, which the Vivo these two devices lack. However, if you want to choose between the Oppo F7 and the Vivo V9, we would definitely suggest you go with the Vivo V9, as it has 4K video recording, dual-camera setup, and also a reliable Qualcomm chipset inside it.

As for the Xiaomi Mi Mix 2, the device has tons of power, excellent build quality, and decent primary camera performance, if you have money to spend, you should definitely buy the Mi Mix 2 over the Vivo V9 and the Oppo F7.
