OnePlus is either the master of buzz marketing or the worst at keeping secrets about upcoming models, because there is almost nothing we don’t already know about the OnePlus 6, the next big thing from the Chinese smartphone manufacturer. So we all know that the newest phone from OnePlus will be called the OnePlus 6, we know how much it will cost (at least approximately), and we all know the flagship phone is due for a launch sometime in the next few weeks. But there is an additional snippet of news which might not really surprise you.
OnePlus 6: India Launch, Amazon Exclusive
According to the marketing promos that OnePlus has just recently started running, the OnePlus 6 is almost ready to be unveiled. Combine that with news of the outgoing OnePlus 5T going out of stock in stores all over India and Europe, we know for sure that the device will make its appearance before the end of April (but we did hear a rumour about the official launch date being May 5th). And the promos indicate that the smartphone will be sold exclusively through Amazon. As mentioned earlier, this may not really surprise fans of the brand who know that the initial batch of OnePlus devices is always made available via Amazon.
OnePlus 6: Price in India
Among the various details that were leaked regarding the new phone, were rumours about the notch — which was eventually confirmed by both Carl Pei and Pete Lau — and a couple of weeks after that, news regarding the pricing details, which were leaked on a Chinese website called gizmochina. The site claimed to have spoken to a credible source who shared pricing details for the OnePlus 6.
The base version of the OnePlus 6, which is the 64GB variant, will be priced at $523 or Rs. 34,000. The two other variants, a 128GB ROM version and a 256GB ROM version, are priced at $602 (Rs. 39,133) and $697 (Rs. 45,308) respectively. As you can see, the price for the OnePlus 6 is a tad more than the OnePlus 5T, which it is replacing. The base version of the OnePlus 5T is priced at Rs. 32,999.
OnePlus 6: Leaked Specifications, Features
Powering the new OnePlus 6 will be the all-new octa-core Snapdragon 845 chipset from Qualcomm, which will be paired with an Adreno 630 graphics processing unit (GPU). The phone will sport a 6.28-inch optic LED display offering a resolution of 1080×2280 pixels with an aspect ratio of 19:9. The display will have a notch at the top, which did not please a lot of OnePlus fans. The OnePlus 6 will run Android 8.1 via its OxygenOS shell. In terms of memory specs, the device will be available in 64GB, 128GB and 256GB storage options, with 6GB RAM and 8GB RAM variants. The device will carry a larger 3450mAh battery as compared to the outgoing OnePlus 5T, which had a cell with a capacity of 3300mAh.
As for camera specs, the new flagship device is equipped with a dual camera setup: a 16MP+20MP combo which will let you shoot photographs and play with bokeh effects. The arrangement of the lenses has changed to a vertical array, as compared to the horizontal lenses on the OnePlus 5T. The phone will also allow users to shoot 4K videos. We know that the new phone will feature image stabilisation — whether it is optical or electronically assisted, remains to be seen. As for your selfies, the OnePlus 6 features a 20MP f/2.0 front camera which will take care of that.
Besides these details, we also know that the OnePlus 6 will be available in a Blue colour option, which breaks away from the OnePlus tradition of offering phones in only Black and White colours.
