Earlier this week, Huawei confirmed its plans of launching its latest P20 series smartphones in the Indian market on April 24. Amazon India has now started teasing the upcoming smartphones. The e-commerce giant has set up a dedicated page for the Huawei P20 series on its website, confirming that the P20 Pro and P20 Lite will be available exclusively via Amazon in India. The standard P20 is not mentioned anywhere, which seems to suggest that Huawei only plans to release the P20 Pro and P20 Lite smartphones in the country next week.
Huawei P20 Pro, P20 Lite: Expected Price in India
In Europe, the Huawei P20 Pro is priced at a steep EUR 899, which converts to roughly Rs.73,200 based on the current exchange rate. We don’t expect the smartphone to be priced the same here in India but it should still be quite expensive with a price tag of somewhere around the Rs.65,000 mark. The P20 Lite, on the other hand, is available in Europe for around EUR 350, which converts to roughly Rs.29,250. In India, we expect the P20 Lite to be priced around the Rs.30,000 mark. Official pricing of both phones will of course be revealed at the India launch event next week.
Huawei P20 Pro: Specs, Features
The P20 Pro is Huawei’s latest flagship device and comes with a 6.1-inch FullView OLED display with 1080 x 2240 Full HD+ resolution and a pixel density of 408 pixels per inch. Similar to the iPhone X, the P20 Pro display has a notch on the top, albeit not as wide. We also appreciate Huawei’s decision to embed the fingerprint sensor on the front of the handset instead of at the rear. The Huawei P20 Pro runs on the Huawei Kirin 970 octa-core SoC clocked at up to 2.36 GHz with an ARM Mali-G72 MP12 GPU. It also features a dedicated Neural Processing Unit (NPU) to drive the AI features of the handset. In the memory department, Huawei P20 Pro comes with an impressive 6GB of RAM and 128GB of onboard storage.
When it comes to imaging, the P20 Pro is undoubtedly Huawei’s best flagship smartphone yet. The P20 Pro boasts the world’s first triple-lens Leica camera, delivering highly impressive image quality in all lighting conditions. It uses a 40MP RGB sensor coupled with an f/1.8 aperture, 20MP monochrome sensor paired with an f/1.6 aperture, and an 8MP sensor with an f/2.4 telephoto lens. With an overall score of 109, the Huawei P20 Pro sits on top of the DxOMark Mobile chart. On the front is a 24MP Sony IMX576 sensor paired with an f/2.0 aperture lens
Connectivity features include Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac dual-band, Bluetooth 4.2 Low Energy, GPS with A-GPS, GLONASS, USB Type-C, NFC, an IR blaster, and 4G VoLTE. Rest of the key features include a 4000mAh battery with fast charging support, an IP67 rating for dust and water resistance, stereo speakers with Dolby Atmos, and HiFi audio. On the software front, the Huawei P20 Pro ships with Android 8.1 Oreo-based EMIUI 8.1 out of the box.
Huawei P20 Lite: Specs, Features
The Huawei P20 Lite mid-range Android smartphone comes with a 5.84-inch 1080 x 2280 Full HD+ resolution IPS LCD FullView display with a notch on the top. It is powered by an octa-core Kirin 659 processor clocked at up to 2.36 GHz with a Mali-T830 MP2 GPU. The in-house developed SoC has been paired with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of onboard storage. Thanks to a Hybrid Dual SIM slot, you can choose to expand the storage further by up to 256GB.
On the back of the handset is a 16MP + 2MP dual-camera setup with an LED flash, and, surprisingly, no support for 4K video capture. For selfies, the Huawei P20 Lite gets a 16MP snapper on the front. The fingerprint sensor, however, is placed at the back. Connectivity options include Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.2 Low Energy, GPS with A-GPS, GLONASS, NFC, and 4G VoLTE. Keeping the lights on is a 3000mAh capacity non-removable battery with fast charging support. In terms of software, the Huawei P20 Lite will ship with Android 8.0 Oreo-based EMUI 8.0 out of the box.
