The Motorola Moto E5 is priced at EUR 149 (approximately Rs. 12,000), while the Moto E5 Plus has been priced at EUR 169 (approximately Rs. 13,700). The pricing of the Moto E5 Play hasn’t been revealed yet. In India, the Moto E5 Play is expected to be priced at Rs. 7,999, while the Moto E5 and the Moto E5 Plus are expected to be priced at Rs. 8,999 and Rs. 9,999.

The Motorola Moto E5 and the Moto E5 Plus have 18:9 aspect ratio displays with bezel-less design, while the Moto E5 has a traditional 16:9 aspect ratio display with thick bezels. The Moto E5 and the E5 Plus also have Corning Gorilla Glass protection, while the Moto E5 Play doesn’t.

The Moto E5 Plus comes with a 12-megapixel primary camera, and it has laser + phase-detection autofocus system along with an LED flash. All the three smartphones can record Full HD videos. Surprisingly, in spite of the cost difference between the three smartphones, they all come with Qualcomm Snapdragon 425 SoC. Though the Qualcomm Snapdragon 425 SoC has ample amount of power to provide fairly fast and smooth operations, we would have liked to see a more powerful chipset in the Moto E5 and the Moto E5 Plus.
The Moto E5 and the E5 Play have 2GB of RAM and 16GB of storage, while the Moto E5 Plus will be available in two variants; one with 2GB of RAM and 16GB of storage, and the other with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of storage. All the three smartphones run on Android 8.0 Oreo OS.
The Motorola Moto E5 Play comes with a 2800mAh battery. The Moto E5 has a massive 4000mAh battery, while the Moto E5 Plus has an even larger, 5000mAh battery. All the three smartphones support 10W fast charging.

There isn’t much difference between the hardware specifications of the Moto E5 and the Moto E5 Plus; one can go with either of the smartphones depending upon their budget. As for the Moto E5 Play, it has decent hardware specifications for its price, but then there isn’t much price difference between the Moto E5 Play and the Moto E5, and the Moto E5 is vastly better than the Moto E5 Play. Therefore, we think extending the budget a bit, and buying the Moto E5 over the E5 Play would the best option.
