Meizu has introduced three new Android smartphones at an event held in China – 15, 15 Plus, and 15 Lite. Surprisingly, all the three new handsets unveiled by the manufacturer feature 16:9 aspect ratio displays. However, Meizu claims its new 15 and 15 Plus smartphones have the thinnest screen bezel in the world, measuring just 1.175mm.
Meizu 15, 15 Plus, 15 Lite: Price, Availability
The Meizu 15 and 15 Plus smartphones are set to go on sale in China starting April 29th. Prices of the Meizu 15 start at 2,500 yuan (Rs.26,300 approx.) for the base variant and go up to 2,800 yuan (Rs.29,500 approx.) for the 128GB variant. The Meizu 15 Plus, on the other hand, is priced at 3,000 yuan (Rs.31,600 approx.) for the base variant and 3,300 yuan (Rs.34,700 approx.) for the Deluxe variant with 6GB of RAM and 128GB storage. Meizu 15 Lite is priced at 1,699 yuan (Rs.17,800 approx.).
Meizu 15: Features, Specifications
The Meizu 15 features a 5.46-inch Full HD Super AMOLED display and runs on an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 clocked at 2.2 GHz. Packing 4GB of RAM, the Meizu 15 is available in 64GB and 128GB storage variants. On the back of the handset is a 12MP + 20MP dual-camera setup with 3x lossless zoom and portrait mode feature. Meizu is using a Sony IMX380 as the primary sensor, while the secondary sensor is a Sony IMX350. The dual-camera setup features both optical image stabilization (OIS) as well. For selfies, there is a 20MP sensor on the front with AI beauty and Face unlock features. Other key highlights include a fingerprint sensor, 3000mAh battery with mCharge fast charging, stereo speakers, and Android 7.1.2 Nougat-based Flyme OS 7. Connectivity features include Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac dual-band, Bluetooth 4.2 Low Energy, GPS with A-GPS, GLONASS, USB Type-C, and 4G VoLTE. The Meizu 15 will be available in four colors – White, Blue. Black, and Gold.
Meizu 15 Plus: Features, Specifications
The bigger Meizu 15 Plus sports a larger 5.95-inch Super AMOLED display with Quad HD resolution and DCI-P3 color gamut coverage. Powering the handset is the Samsung Exynos 9 8895 chipset from last year, coupled with 6GB of RAM and 64GB/128GB storage options. In the camera department, the Meizu 15 Plus is identical to the Meizu 15. However, the 15 Plus features Electronic Image Stabilization (EIS) in addition to OIS. Both the Meizu 15 and 15 Plus have a fingerprint sensor embedded inside the tiny home button on the front. In addition to the fingerprint sensor, the button also houses a pressure sensor chip with mEngine haptic feedback system. The smartphone packs a 3500mAh capacity juicer that comes with the Meizu mCharge fast charging technology. Connectivity-wise, the Meizu 15 Plus supports Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac dual-band, Bluetooth 4.2 Low Energy, GPS with A-GPS, GLONASS, BeiDou, USB Type-C, and 4G VoLTE. The smartphone is going to be offered in three colors – Black, Gray, and Gold. Disappointingly, the Meizu 15 Plus also runs Android 7.1.2 Nougat-based Flyme OS 7 software. The company claims the latest iteration of its Flyme OS brings over 100 new improvements and packs several AI-powered features.
Meizu 15 Lite: Features, Specifications
The Meizu 15 Lite features a 5.46-inch IPS LCD display with 1080 x 1920 Full HD resolution and runs on Qualcomm’s 14nm Snapdragon 626 chipset with an Adreno 506 GPU. In terms of memory, the handset includes 4GB of RAM and 64GB of onboard storage. Unlike the Meizu 15 and 15 Plus, the 15 Lite comes with a single 12MP snapper at the back with an f/1.9 aperture. On the front, it gets the same 20MP selfie snapper with f/2.0 aperture. Keeping the lights on is a 3000mAh capacity battery with mCharge fast charging. Connectivity options include Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n dual-band, Bluetooth 4.2 Low Energy, GPS with A-GPS, GLONASS, and 4G VoLTE. The Meizu 15 Lite also features a front-fingerprint sensor like the other two and runs on the Android 7.1.2 Nougat-based Flyme OS 7. Color options include Black, Gold, and Red.
