Huawei’s sub-brand Honor has recently launched another mid-range smartphone named Honor 10. The phone has been launched in China on April 19, but it is slated to have another launch event in London on May 15. It is expected to debut in India too as Huawei is holding an international launch event for it. Given that we know the specifications of the phone already, it is worth pitting the phone against two other smartphones that belong to the same segment. The Honor 10 is yet to launch in India, but it has already been made official in China. The 64GB storage variant of the Honor 10 is launched at CNY 2,599 (roughly Rs. 27,200) while the 128GB storage variant is priced at CNY 2,999 (roughly Rs. 31,400).

The OnePlus 5T is up for sale in two variants in India. The OnePlus 5T 6GB RAM/64GB storage variant’s price in India is Rs. Rs. 32,999. The 8GB RAM/128GB storage variant retails at Rs. 37,999.

The Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge’s price in India is Rs. 35,900 for the 32GB storage variant and Rs. 42,500 for the 128GB storage variant.

Starting with the display, the Honor 10 comes with a 5.84-inch IPS LCD screen with Full HD+ 1080×2280 pixels resolution clubbed with 19:9 aspect ratio and an iPhone X-like notch on top of the front panel. The OnePlus 5T, on the other hand, features a 6-inch Optic AMOLED display with 1080 x 2160 pixels resolution and 18:9 aspect ratio. Lastly, the Galaxy S7 Edge bears a 5.5-inch QHD Super AMOLED display with 1440 x 2560 pixels resolution and 16:9 aspect ratio.

In the display comparison, both the OnePlus 5T seem to be better as they house an AMOLED screen, which is better than the LCD screen on the Honor 10. However, if you like the notch design and can make do with an LCD screen, then the Honor 10 should be your first choice.

Concerning hardware, the Honor 10 comes powered by Kirin 970 processor with 6GB of RAM and 64GB/128GB storage (depending on the variant). The phone runs Android 8.1 Oreo-based EMUI 8.1 OS. A 3400mAh battery backs the device with fast charging support.

The OnePlus 5T is powered by a Snapdragon 835 chipset clubbed with 6GB/8GB RAM and 64GB/128GB storage, based on the variant. It runs Android 8.0 Oreo-based Oxygen OS. A 3300mAh battery powers the phone with DashCharge support.

The Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge comes powered by an Exynos 8896 SoC paired with 32GB/128GB storage and 4GB of RAM. The Galaxy S7 Edge when launched ran Android 6.1 Marshmallow but was later upgraded to Android 7.1 Nougat. The phone is now expected to receive Android 8.0 Oreo update soon. A 3600mAh battery backs the phone with support for fast charging.

The Honor 10 sports a 16MP + 24MP dual-camera setup at the rear. The primary 16MP sensor is an RGB sensor while the secondary 24MP sensor is a monochrome sensor. The dual camera setup also houses an LED flash and 4K video recording, and AI capabilities. On the front, the phone boasts a 24MP selfie snapper.

On the contrary, the OnePlus 5T has a 16MP+ 20MP dual-camera setup on the rear geared with Phase-detection Autofocus (PDAF), Electronic Image Stabilization (EIS), dual-tone dual-LED flash, and 4K video recording. There is a 16MP front-facing camera on the front.

The Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge features a 12MP Dual Pixel on the rear with a f/1.7 aperture and smart OIS. It has a 5MP front-facing camera with a f/1.7 aperture.

The Honor 10 takes the crown in this segment with high-end dual camera setup and selfie camera.

Given the specifications and features of all the three phones, both the Honor 10 and the OnePlus 5T come up as winners. The OnePlus 5T offers a better SoC and display, but the Honor 10 packs a better camera setup. We think that the Honor 10 would make a better buy only when it is priced lower than the OnePlus 5T in India.
