OnePlus’ next flagship device, the OnePlus 6 is set to be officially announced on the 16th of this month at an event in London. The manufacturer will also be holding a dedicated launch event for the Indian market on May 17th at NSCI @ Dome, Mumbai. Ahead of the smartphone’s launch in India, the company has revealed its plans of holding presale pop-ups on the 21st and 22nd of May in eight major Indian cities – Bengaluru, Delhi, Mumbai, Pune, Chennai, Hyderabad, Kolkata, and Ahmedabad.

Since the OnePlus 2, we’ve held pop-ups for our new product launches in cities around the world, with hundreds of people turning up every time at each of them,” said OnePlus co-founder Carl Pei. “It’s incredible to experience the passion and the excitement of our community during pop-ups, it’s a real celebration. I am very thankful for all of their support and the motivation they bring to us.”

In a statement issued by the company today, OnePlus has announced that it will be holding presale pop-up events in 8 Indian cities between 21-22 May, 2018. The OnePlus 6 pop-ups will take place from 3:30 PM to 8 PM on 21st May and 11 AM to 7 PM on 22nd May. OnePlus will hold the pop-ups in High Street Phoenix in Mumbai, Phoenix Market City in Pune, The Forum Vijaya in Chennai, The Forum Sujana in Hyderabad, DLF Place Saket in Delhi, South City Mall in Kolkata, Gulmohar Park Mall in Ahmedabad, and the OnePlus Experience Store in Brigade Road, Bangalore. Apart from the eight cities in India, OnePlus has confirmed that pop-ups will also be held in New York, London, Paris, Milan, and Beijing.

OnePlus 6: Expected Price in India, Availability

According to a recent leak, the OnePlus 6 is expected to start at Rs.36,999 for the 6GB RAM variant with 64GB of onboard storage. The 8GB RAM variant, on the other hand, is expected to be priced at Rs.39,999. Similar to the company’s previous flagship offerings, the OnePlus 6 will be available exclusively on Amazon India in the country. The e-commerce giant will be holding a OnePlus 6 Early Access Sale on its website on May 21 at 12 PM exclusively for Prime members.

OnePlus 6: Expected Features, Specifications

The OnePlus 6 will feature a 6.28-inch sized Optic AMOLED display with 1080 x 2280 Full HD+ resolution and 19:9 aspect ratio. As confirmed by OnePlus, the OnePlus 6 will be the company’s first smartphone to embrace the notch. Made popular by Apple last year, a number of Android smartphone makers have rolled out new smartphones with a notched display this year. If you aren’t a fan of the design choice, you will be glad to know that OnePlus will be allowing users to hide the notch. The bad news, however, is that the feature will only be available a few weeks after the smartphone goes on sale.

Now let’s move on to the core hardware specifications of the upcoming flagship. The OnePlus 6 is going to be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 octa-core processor under the hood, coupled with 6GB or 8GB of RAM. In terms of storage, the OnePlus is expected to be offered in three variants – 64GB, 128GB, and 256GB. In terms of imaging, the OnePlus 6 is rumored to feature a 16MP + 20MP dual-camera setup with improved low-light performance and 4K video recording. The selfie camera on the front is expected to be a 20MP unit.

Connectivity-wise, we expect the smartphone to support Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac dual-band, Bluetooth 5.0 Low Energy, USB Type-C, 4G VoLTE, GPS with A-GPS, GLONASS, and BeiDou. Unlike a few other flagship Android smartphones, the OnePlus 6 will come with the good, old 3.5mm headphone jack. Rumors also suggest the flagship smartphone will pack a 3450mAh capacity battery with Dash Charge 2.0 support. On the software front, we expect the OnePlus 6 to ship with Android 8.1 Oreo-based OxygenOS software.
