Comio is a Chinese smartphone brand that is slowly trying to make inroads into the highly competitive Indian smartphone market. The company currently sells handsets like the Comio P1, the Comio S1, and the Comio C1 and C2 in the country. The reason you are reading about the Comio today, however, is because the company is all set to announce a new handset in the India market later this month. At this time we do not know the name of the handset that the company plans to release. What we do know, however, are some of the expected specifications and features of this new phone.
Let us now talk about the features expected on this new phone.
New Comio smartphone: Expected features
While we do not have the details if the SoC this new handset would use, we do know that it will feature a full HD display which translates into a resolution of 1080 x 1920 pixels. The handset will also boast of a dual camera setup. The camera resolution is currently not known. The handset will also feature a high-resolution front-facing camera and will also support a bokeh mode. The front-facing camera will also be used to manage the face unlock feature that the handset is confirmed to come with. The highlight of the phone, however, would be its price tag which is expected to be under the psychologically important Rs.10,000 mark at the time if its launch.
In case the handset does feature a powerful mid-range SoC, there is good chance that you will find it squaring off against the likes if the Xiaomi Redmi 5, and even the Redmi Note 5 both of which retail for less than Rs.10,000 in India. Another handset that would be in sight would be the recently launched Oppo Realme 1. We should be able to talk about the handset in detail in the next few days, and hopefully, get a review unit as well.
Comio’s plans for India
The launch of this new smartphone would also coincide with the expansion of the Comio brand pan India. Until now, the company had its presence only in northern and western India. By the end of this month, Comio will expand its presence to southern and eastern India as well. Comio officially entered the Indian market in 2017, just two years after the company created the brand in China back in 2015. The company aims to increase its market share considerably in India over the next few years and has even started making its handsets in India from a third-party contract manufacturer, thereby supporting the ‘Make in India’ initiative.
