Honor’s latest flagship smartphone, the Honor 10 was made official for global markets yesterday at an event held in London. In India, the smartphone has been launched as a Flipkart exclusive and is set to take on OnePlus’ next flagship device, the OnePlus 6. While the OnePlus 6 will not be available for sale in India until next week, the Honor 10 is now up for pre-order in India via Flipkart. As with any major smartphone launch, Honor and Flipkart are running some exciting offers on the Honor 10 for the early birds. The Honor 10 will be released in India on May 23, so if you place a pre-order now, you can expect it to ship sometime early next week.
Honor 10: Price in India, Offers
As expected, the Honor 10 has been priced at a slight premium when compared to the company’s previous flagship offering, the Honor View 10. The Honor 10 variant launched in India with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage has been priced at Rs.32,999. It will be available online exclusively via Flipkart as well as the Honor online store. The Honor 10 is available in only two color options in India – Midnight Black and Phantom Blue. The Phantom Blue color features an Aurora Glass design, similar to the Huawei P20 Pro.
Coming to launch offers, Flipkart is offering 10% instant discount on the Honor 10 with Axis Bank credit and debit cards. The instant discount has been capped at Rs.3,000 per card and will be applicable even on EMI transactions. If you exchange an old smartphone to purchase the Honor 10, you will be able to get up to Rs.5,000 extra over the regular exchange value on select devices. If you haven’t made online payments on Flipkart earlier, you can get a 5% instant discount on VISA cards for your first 3 online payments. Axis Bank Buzz credit card holders can get an extra 5% off on the smartphone, although the maximum discount is capped at Rs.200.
Honor 10: Specifications, Features
The Honor 10 comes with a 5.84-inch FullView IPS display with 1080 x 2280 Full HD+ resolution and 19:9 aspect ratio. Unlike the Honor View 10, the Honor 10 does have a notch on the top, which has made it possible for Honor to achieve a screen-to-body ratio of 86.2%. Powering the Honor 10 is HiSilicon’s Kirin 970 octa-core processor clocked at 2.36 GHz with a Mali-G72 MP12 GPU. In the memory department, the variant launched in India includes 6GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage. Further expansion is not possible as the Honor 10 lacks a microSD card slot.
At the rear is a 16MP + 24MP AI dual-camera setup with a wide f/1.8 aperture lens and real-time AI scene recognition of 500+ scenarios in 22 categories. Thanks to the independent NPU in the Kirin 970 chipset, the Honor 10’s fast and efficient AI algorithm is able to pair subjects with optimal camera setting and image context to help users take professional-looking photos. The 24MP front-facing camera also utilizes AI with Light Fusion Technology to allow users to capture great selfies even in low light. 3D Portrait Lighting is available as well, creating professional studio lighting effects using both front and rear cameras. The front-facing camera also enables the Face Unlock feature. Alternatively, users can use the Ultrasonic under-glass fingerprint sensor positioned on the front of the Honor 10.
Connectivity features include Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac dual-band, Bluetooth 4.2 Low Energy, GPS with A-GPS, GLONASS, NFC, USB Type-C, and 4G VoLTE. The smartphone is backed by a 3400mAh non-removable battery with Honor Fast Charge technology. In terms of dimensions, the Honor 10 measures 149.6 x 71.2 x 7.7mm and weighs in at 153 grams.
Honor 10: OS Updates, Software
The Honor 10 runs on the Android 8.1 Oreo-based EMUI 8.1 software out of the box. Unlike the Chinese variant of the smartphone, the variant launched in India ships with Google services. It comes with Honor’s Clear Talk function which uses AI to help reduce background noise and increase whisper volume in quiet surroundings while you are on a call. As for updates, Honor hasn’t confirmed anything just yet but we do expect the Honor 10 to at least receive the Android P update.
