Two variants of the upcoming BlackBerry smartphone have appeared in Geekbench’s database. Bearing model number BBE100-2, the Android 8.1 Oreo running smartphone comes equipped with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 processor, and could be launched in two memory variants: 4GB RAM and 6GB RAM.
The device scored 1,335 points in Geekbench’s single-core CPU test and 4,948 points in the multi-core CPU test. The device is expected to be launched as a successor to the BlackBerry KEYOne, and could called the BlackBerry KEY². It is codenamed Athena, and its images as well as specifications were revealed earlier. There could also be a Lite variant of the device.
BlackBerry KEY²: Features, Specifications
The BlackBerry KEY² is expected to come featuring a 4.5-inch IPS LCD screen with Full HD like resolution (1080×1620 pixels) with a slightly squarer aspect ratio. There will also be a BlackBerry trademarked full QWERTY physical keyboard below the screen. The phone will run Android 8.1 Oreo out of the box with mostly stock Android user interface. It will come equipped with the Snapdragon 660 processor, 4GB/6GB RAM, 64GB/128GB internal storage, and a microSD card slot for storage expansion. Just like its predecessor, the KEY² will feature a fingerprint reader embedded into the spacebar key of the keyboard. Each physical key in the QWERTY keyboard can be used to set three types of shortcuts – single press, double press, and long press – for opening apps or triggering actions.
The KEY² will have a dual-camera setup at the rear, in truly 2018 fashion. It is being expected that the phone will have a 12MP+8MP camera setup at the rear with phase-detection autofocus, LED flash, and 4K video recording. There will be an 8-megapixel front-facing camera and 1080p video recording. There will be a dual-SIM variant of the KEY² in the Indian market. The device will feature 4G LTE, GPS, dual-band Wi-Fi a/b/g/n/ac, Bluetooth 4.2, NFC, FM Radio, USB Type-C port, and a 3.5mm headphone port. The BlackBerry KEY² will most probably come packed with a 3360mAh battery, which will be non-removable and be capable of rapid charging for better convenience.
