Xiaomi’s much-teased Mi A2 aka Mi 6X is expected to launch soon. Many of the reports say that the Mi A2 is another name for the Mi 6X smartphone, which was launched in China, a week ago. The Mi A2 is a successor to Xiaomi’s stock Android smartphone, the Mi A1. Let’s take a look at the Mi A2 expected launch date, price in India, and specifications.

As we mentioned above, the Mi A2 is a rebranded version of the Mi 6X with the goodness of Android One. For now, the launch date for the Mi A2 has not been confirmed by Xiaomi but it could unveil the device some time this month. Concerning its price in India, the Mi A2 is likely to be costlier than the Redmi Note 5 Pro. In China, the Mi 6X debuted at 1,599 yuan (roughly Rs.16,800) for the 4GB RAM/64GB storage variant and 1,799 yuan (roughly Rs.18,900) for the 6GB RAM/64GB storage variant. Keeping Xiaomi’s price trends for India in mind, we can expect the 4GB RAM variant of the Mi A2 to be priced at Rs.14,999 and the 6GB RAM variant at Rs.17,999.

The Xiaomi Mi 6X (Mi A2) comes with a 5.99-inch display with 18:9 aspect ratio . Just like the Redmi Note 5 Pro, the Mi 6X (Mi A2) display offers a Full HD+ resolution of 1080 x 2160 pixels with a pixel density of 403 PPI and 1500:1 static contrast ratio. The display is also adorned with several other features such as Night Mode, Eye Mode, Standard mode, and color temperature adjustment.

The Mi 6X (Mi A2) comes powered by a powerful Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 octa-core chipset. It is available in 4GB RAM + 32GB storage. 6GB RAM + 64GB storage, and 6GB RAM + 128GB storage variants. Compared to its predecessor, the Mi A1 (Mi 5X) that featured Snapdragon 625 chipset, the Mi 6X (Mi A2) brings a major upgrade with SD660. The chipset is better than the Snapdragon 636 powering the Redmi Note 5 Pro, in terms of power and performance.

Concerning software, the Mi 6X runs Android 8.1-based MIUI 9.5 out of the box, but the Mi A2 will run stock Android without MIUI customisation. Being an Android One smartphone, the Mi A2 will fetch regular security updates. One can expect it to get at least two major OS upgrades, which should include Android P and Android Q.

The Xiaomi Mi 6X (Mi A2) features dual-camera setup at the rear, which is better than the one found on the Redmi Note 5 Pro. The Mi 6X sports 12MP + 20MP dual-cameras at the rear while the Note 5 Pro settles for a 12MP + 5MP dual-lens setup. The rear cameras on the Mi 6X (Mi A2) are integrated with Artificial Intelligence (AI), which can detect up to 12 different scenes to assist users in taking perfect shots according to the surroundings. Both the sensors at the rear are geared with f/1.75 aperture. The Mi 6X (Mi A2) can record 4K videos at 30fps. Other features on the phone include AI Smart Beauty 4.0, AI Scene recognition, and AI background blur. All these features help the Mi 6X (Mi A2) to offer beautification tweaks that can also be applied during a video call. There is also a 4500K Soft LED light on the front that helps in capturing selfies in low-light surroundings.

The Xiaomi Mi 6X (Mi A2) supports connectivity options such as 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/n/ac dual-band, USB Type-C, Bluetooth 5.0 Low Energy, GPS with A-GPS, GLONASS, BeiDou, and an IR blaster. A 3010mAh battery backs the device with Qualcomm Quick Charge 3.0 support
