Redmi 5A: Price in India

The Redmi 5A is available in two models with both of them expected to be sold on the Mi Store. The base version comes with 2GB RAM and 16GB of internal memory while the highest specifications model has 3GB RAM and 32GB of internal memory. The 2GB RAM one costs Rs. 5,999, while the 3GB RAM version will cost you Rs.6,999. Color options for the Redmi 5A include Gold, Dark Grey, Rose Gold and Blue, so you have plenty of flavors to pick from.

Redmi 5A: Specifications, Features

The Xiaomi Redmi 5A has a 5.0-inch LCD display with a resolution of 1280 x 720. It has a 1000:1 contrast ratio and 296 ppi. It also comes with a reading mode so that you can view videos and read text for prolonged periods without hurting your eyes. Coming to the hardware bits, there is a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 425 chipset running and it is clocked at 1.4GHz.

The GPU is an Adreno 308 GPU clocked at 500MHz and the base model of the Redmi 5A features 2GB of RAM. If you feel that 2GB RAM is far too less for a smartphone in 2018, you can always pick up the 3GB RAM model, but that is the more expensive variant. The 2GB RAM variant of the smartphone includes 16GB of internal memory, while the 3GB RAM variant is equipped with 32GB of storage. There is also a dedicated microSD card slot that accepts up to 128GB microSD cards.

In the camera segment, the Redmi 5A is more or less on par with most other devices in the entry-level segment. It features a 13MP rear camera with a f/2.2 aperture, and comes with features like phase-detection autofocus, and LED flash. For selfies, the Redmi 5A has a 5MP camera with a f/2.0 aperture. Unfortunately, the Redmi 5A does not come with a fingerprint sensor, which is sort of a deal breaker for people who want to unlock their device instantly.

Luckily, it will give you ample battery life thanks to its 3000mAh capacity. Other connectivity options include Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.1 Low Energy, Bluetooth HID, GPS with A-GPS, GLONASS, BeiDou, an IR blaster, and 4G VoLTE. Xiaomi had to keep the costs low so a fingerprint reader would have immediately increased the manufacturing total. If you are still having doubts you should check out the other attractive bits of the smartphone, as they certainly look very promising.

Be sure to keep an eye on the clock or else the units will run out very fast. The Mi Store has not specified how many units will be available at hand but if there is a lot of traffic on the online store, it will end up being very slow and you might not make your purchase fast enough. So, it is important to be on time. Keep your online payment details handy so that you can checkout as soon as you add the product to cart. Xiaomi has disabled the Cash on Delivery (COD) options from the sale to stop third-party dealers from purchasing the units.
