The much-anticipated flagship of 2018, OnePlus 6 has been making headlines months before its release date was even set for India. Now that the smartphone has finally been launched, it’s in the news again as the users are posting reviews and smartphone giants are posting offer announcements while reacting to the launch. The launch of OnePlus 6 has given Samsung a whole new incentive to work on their marketing strategies, it seems. Samsung has announced cashback offers on two of its smartphones. The Korean giant has also been taking a dig at their competitors through a series of tweets.

Samsung Announces Cashback on Samsung Galaxy S8 and Galaxy A8+

Samsung is offering cashback up to Rs. 8,000 on two of its smartphones, Galaxy S8 and Galaxy A8+. The company took it to twitter to announce the offers on the same day as the launch of OnePlus 6 in India.

According to the offer, Galaxy A8+ buyers will get a cashback of Rs. 5,000 and those buying the Galaxy S8 can avail a cashback of Rs. 8,000. The offer clearly takes a dig on the recently launched OnePlus 6. The OnePlus 6 manufacturers are promoting their flagship phone under the tagline, “The Speed You Need”. And, the announcements from Samsung open with a hashtag “More Than Just Speed”, clearly mocking the launching banners of the former. After the cashback offer, the effective price of the Samsung Galaxy S8 comes down to Rs. 37,990 from Rs. 45,990 and for Galaxy A8+, the cost reduces to Rs. 29,990 from Rs. 34,990. It is important to note that the offers are available exclusively on Paytm Mall. It is also worth noticing that Samsung Galaxy S8 is available for Rs. 45,990 whereas Galaxy A8+ is available for Rs. 32,490 on the official website of Samsung India.

Why Settle For Just Speed: Samsung Mocks OnePlus 6 with a Series of Tweets

The marketing tactics of Samsung are not limited to making huge cashback offers. In order to take on OnePlus 6, right from the day of the launch, Samsung is tweeting its offers while taking a dig on OnePlus 6’s tagline. The captions quote, “Why Settle for Speed” when you can get “More Than Just Speed”.

In the tweet, Samsung is seen pushing the users to buy a ‘true flagship’ at an incredible offer. The key features in both the smartphones from Samsung include Super AMOLED display, IP68 water resistance, Samsung Pay, and Bixby assistant. OnePlus 6 also sports AMOLED display.

More than Just Speed: Samsung Takes the Competition Seriously

Samsung seems to be taking the competition from OnePlus 6 quite seriously given that the flagship it has put on offer is just a year old. Samsung has been trying to lure users into buying its ‘true flagship’ by subtly throwing in the specs and feature details, and creating polls in their tweets every now and then.
