Moto Z3 Play Specifications Leaked Online; 6-inch Full HD+ AMOLED Display, Dual Rear Cameras, and More Revealed

In a new leak, key specs and features of the upcoming Moto Z3 Play smartphone have surfaced online. While no release date has been confirmed yet, we expect the smartphone to be made official sometime in the coming weeks.

In June last year, Motorola unveiled the most affordable member of the Moto Z2 series, the Moto Z2 Play. The Lenovo-owned company is now getting ready to introduce the successor to the Moto Z2 Play, likely dubbed the Moto Z3 Play. The first render o the upcoming smartphone had been leaked online by Android Headlines last month. Another render of the smartphone in Deep Indigo shade was shared online by leakster Evan Blass earlier this month. The folks over at XDA-developers have now gained access to an internal document that lists almost all the key features as well as specifications of the upcoming Motorola mid-range smartphone.

Moto Z3 Play: Leaked Specifications, Features

According to the internal document accessed by the folks over at XDA-developers, the Moto Z3 Play will come with an aluminum body with a 2.5D Corning Gorilla Glass layer on the front. The handset will also boast an incredibly thin profile, with the document calling it “one of the thinnest premium smartphone in the market”. Dominating the front of the handset is going to be a 6-inch Max Vision AMOLED display with 1080 x 2160 Full HD+ resolution and an 18:9 aspect ratio. Under the hood, Motorola’s upcoming mid-range smartphone is said to be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 636 octa-core chipset, a significant upgrade over the Snapdragon 626 chipset that powers the Moto Z2 Play. The smartphone will come equipped with 4GB of RAM and two storage options – 32GB and 64GB. For further expansion, the smartphone will include a microSD card slot as well.

In the camera department, Motorola’s upcoming Moto Z3 Play will feature a dual-camera setup at the rear with a 12-megapixel “low-light sensor”. The camera will offer a number of exciting features such as cinemagraphs, which basically keeps a part of a shot animated, similar to what Samsung offers on its Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9+ smartphones. Some of the other key features of the camera include creative effects, spot color, cutout mode to replace backgrounds, an advanced manual mode, and the ability to scan text from documents or business cards. The manual mode will allow users to adjust the focal length, white balance, shutter speed, ISO and exposure. For selfies, the Moto Z3 Play will feature an 8MP sensor on the front.

The internal document also confirms the smartphone will be backed by a 3000mAh capacity battery with TurboPower fast charging. Some of the other key features of the Moto Z3 Play revealed by the latest leak include a side-mounted fingerprint scanner, Face Unlock, Moto Voice, Moto Display, Moto Experiences, and navigation gestures.

Moto Z3 Play: New Moto Mods and Bundles

Apart from shedding light on the key specifications and features of the upcoming Moto Z3 Play, the internal document also reveals some of the Moto Mods that Motorola will be offering along with the smartphone. The document suggests Motorola will be offering four bundles – Moto Z “Power” Edition with bundled battery Moto Mod, Moto Z “Style” Edition with bundled Style Shell, Moto Z “Gamepad” Edition” with bundled Gamepad Mod, and Moto Z “Projection” Edition with a bundled 70-inch projector mod.

Moto Z3 Play: Expected Price in India

Motorola had launched the Moto Z3 Play in India in June last year for Rs.27,999. We expect the Moto Z3 Play to be priced similarly, although there is a chance that it could be priced slightly higher thanks to the various upgrades it will include. The Moto Z2 Play was brought to India soon after the smartphone’s global debut, so if Motorola sticks to the same strategy with the Moto Z3 Play, we can expect it to be launched in India soon after its official unveiling.
