Ahead of the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia, Chinese smartphone maker Vivo has announced a new V9 Blue limited edition variant to commemorate the tournament. In addition to the Vivo V9 Blue, the company has also come up with a new campaign titled “My Time, My FIFA World Cup’. The new announcement comes just weeks after it announced the Vivo X21 FIFA World Cup Edition. It should be noted that Vivo is the official smartphone sponsor of the upcoming 2018 FIFA World Cup tournament.
Vivo V9: Blue Limited Edition Announced
The Vivo V9 Blue Limited Edition is identical to the regular Vivo V9 when it comes to hardware specifications. However, the limited edition will ship with a slightly tweaked software with additional apps for the upcoming tournament and various themes that can be customized by the users. The apps will allow Vivo V9 Blue owners to follow their favorite teams during the tournament as well as interact with other fans.
Under the My Time, My FIFA World Cup campaign, Vivo will be hosting two activities for fans – Vivo Super Fan Photographers and Vivo Super Time. As part of the Vivo Super Fan Photographers program, Vivo will be hiring football fans, consumers and special guests passionate about photography to capture exciting moments at both the 2018 and 2022 FIFA World Cup. Under the Vivo Super Time program, Vivo will be holding a series of unique music-themed activities throughout the 2018 FIFA World Cup.
Vivo V9: Price in India, Offers
The Vivo V9 was launched in India in March this year. Like most of its rivals, the Vivo V9 is only available in a single configuration – 4GB of RAM coupled with 64GB of internal storage. You can find the smartphone online as well as offline for Rs.22,990. Amazon.in is currently offering 5% cashback on the V9 to HDFC Bank cardholders. If you purchase it from Flipkart, you will be able to avail 5% off on the smartphone using Axis Bank debit EMI option. Flipkart is also offering 5% instant discount on Visa cards for first 3 online payments and extra 5% off with Axis Bank Buzz credit cards. In terms of color options, the Vivo V9 is available in Pearl Black, Champagne Gold, Pearl Black (Gold Line), and Sapphire Blue colors.
Vivo V9: Specifications, Features
The Vivo V9 features a 6.3-inch FullView Display 2.0 with 90% screen-to-body ratio, 1.75mm narrow bezels, 1080 x 2280 Full HD+ resolution and 19:9 aspect ratio. Similar to the iPhone X, the V9 display features a notch on the top. The smartphone is powered by an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 626 processor clocked at 2.2 GHz with an Adreno 506 GPU. While the Snapdragon 626 isn’t a weak processor on its own, it is certainly underpowered when compared to most of the Vivo V9’s rivals. The octa-core processor has been paired with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal memory. If you want more storage, you can simply add a microSD card to expand the storage further by up to 256GB thanks to a dedicated microSD card slot.
At the rear is a dual-camera setup with a 16MP main camera and a 5MP secondary camera supported by Vivo’s AI Bokeh algorithm. Vivo claims the algorithm has been optimized using machine learning of large amounts of data, allowing users to capture photos with a nice depth of field, similar to what is achieved by DSLR cameras. The V9 even gives you the option to set the focus after you have taken a photo. For selfie lovers, the smartphone offers a 24-megapixel resolution snapper with a soft LED flash on the front.
Connectivity-wise, Vivo V9 comes with support for Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac dual-band, Bluetooth 4.2 Low Energy, GPS with A-GPS, GLONASS, and 4G VoLTE. The smartphone is fueled by a 3260mAh non-removable battery. However, the Vivo V9 does not offer fast charging support. For unlocking the device, you can either use the rear-mounted fingerprint sensor or the AI Face Access feature. In terms of physical dimensions, the Vivo V9 measures 154.8 x 75.1 x 7.9mm and weighs in at 150 grams. The handset runs on Android 8.1 Oreo-based Funtouch OS 4.0 with features such as Game Mode to deliver a superior multitasking experience with the notch in mind.
