It is speculated that Apple will launch three iPhones this year and all three of them would have OLED screens. Apple is expected to launch iPhone 9 and apart from that, it is also going to release a smaller iPhone Xs with a 5.8-inch OLED screen and the humungous iPhone Xs Plus with a 6.5-inch OLED display.

iPhone with Triple-Lens Camera:

Apart from these expectations, Apple is all set to launch at least one iPhone model that will have a triple-lens camera, in the year 2019, according to reports from a leading Taiwanese website Economic Daily News. Deutsche Securities analyst Jialin Lu is highly certain that the newly developed triple-lens rear camera in iPhone will have the 3D depth sensing (like TrueDepth sensor in iPhone X) with the help of stereoscopic vision for augmented reality purposes.

While two of the three sensors would help in capturing images of the same object from two different angles, and the third sensor would actually be able to estimate the distance from the object with the help of triangulation. In 2017, Bloomberg’s Alex Webb had actually reported that the future iPhones would be assembled with 3D sensing capabilities even whilst Apple was working on a laser based system to invent a 3D image of the surroundings.

On the other hand, CEO of Apple, Tim Cook’s earnest and sincere passion in augmented reality is a well-known fact. He introduced ARKit platform in 2017 to develop augmented reality applications for iPhones and iPads running on iOS 11. Lu also believes that the newbie third lens will apparently have a 3X optical zoom for the first ever time on an iPhone. It will have a greater focal length on the rear camera to strengthen zoom capabilities without compromising on the quality. It ought to be mentioned that the earlier models including iPhone 8 Plus as well as the iPhone X feature only 2x optical zoom.

Meanwhile, it should also be noted that Huawei P20 Pro was actually the first ever smartphone with a triple-lens back camera that consisted of a 40MP lens, a 20MP b/w lens along with an 8MP telephoto lens that enabled 3x optical zoom. Though a little late in introducing triple-lens system, this iPhone which is expected to be released in 2019 is likely to have even more exciting features and upgrades that might be revealed in the upcoming months.
