On the front, there is an 8MP selfie shooter with a f/2.2 aperture lens, AI beauty, Vivid Bokeh. The camera app on the phone is integrated with Beauty 2.0, which offers 296-point facial recognition and also beautifies clicked images. Face Unlock feature on the phone is claimed to unlock the device in just 0.1 seconds, but we wonder if it is secure as well. There have been several instances proving that software-level Face Unlock feature is not as secure as a hardware-backed Face ID feature on the iPhone X.

The Realme 1 supports AR stickers for both the rear and front cameras. It does not pack a fingerprint sensor, which means that users will have to choose between Face Unlock feature or other options like PIN, Password, or Pattern. Connectivity options on the phone include 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac dual-band, Bluetooth 4.2 Low Energy, GPS with A-GPS, and GLONASS. The phone boasts a fibreglass body measuring 156×75.3×7.8mm and weighing 158 grams.

Oppo claims that it has executed stringent quality control backed with 10,000 drop tests, 100,000 button tests, 10,000 USB tests to ensure the durability of the Realme 1. Additionally, the company has also announced more than 500 authorised service centres for its sub-brand all across India. For some of the major cities, the company will be offering 1-hour guaranteed service.

Given its pricing and specifications, the Realme 1 competes with Xiaomi’s Redmi Note 5, the Redmi Note 5 Pro, and Asus’s ZenFone Max Pro M1.
