Moto Z3 Play: Specifications, Features

The Moto Z3 Play sports a 6-inch AMOLED Max Vision display with 1080 x 2160 Full HD+ resolution and an 18:9 aspect ratio. In terms of design, the smartphone boasts a thin 6.75mm profile and is roughly the same size as the Moto Z2 Play, even though the actual display is 13% larger. There is an aluminum frame in the middle while both the front and back of the handset feature Corning Gorilla Glass 3. Similar to the Moto G6 family of smartphones, the Moto Z3 Play comes with a splash-resistance nano-coating that aims at protecting the device from accidental liquid splashes and light rain. Powering the mid-range Motorola handset is a Qualcomm Snapdragon 636 octa-core processor clocked at 1.8 GHz with an Adreno 509 GPU powering the graphics. When it comes to the memory department, Moto Z3 Play comes in 4GB and 6GB variants.  While the 4GB RAM variant will include 64GB of internal storage, the 6GB RAM variant will ship with 128GB of internal storage..

In the camera department, the Moto Z3 Play boasts a 12MP + 5MP dual-camera setup at the rear with Dual Pixel autofocus and an f/1.7 aperture. The secondary 5MP sensor is used mainly for depth sensing to enable users to take photos with a nice depth of field. Similar to the Moto G6, the Moto Z3 Play camera offers Google Lens integration allowing it to recognize objects and provide information about a popular landmark or business establishment. For selfies, the Moto Z3 Play is equipped with an 8MP sensor on the front, coupled with an f/2.0 aperture.

Moving on to connectivity, the new Motorola mid-ranger supports Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac dual-band, Bluetooth 5.0 Low Energy, GPS with A-GPS, GLONASS, BeiDou, USB Type-C port, and 4G VoLTE. Unlike its predecessor, the Moto Z3 Play does not include a front-mounted fingerprint sensor. Instead, the fingerprint sensor has now been moved to the side of the handset. In addition to the fingerprint sensor, users will also be able to unlock the smartphone using the facial recognition feature, much like almost every other mid-range Android smartphone released recently.

Just as rumored, the smartphone is fueled by a 3000mAh capacity non-removable battery with 15W TurboPower fast charging support.. On the software front, the Moto Z3 Play will be launched with the Android 8.1 Oreo operating system out of the box. While the smartphone offers a near stock Android experience, you will also be able to enjoy the unique Motorola features like Moto Display, Moto Actions, and more.
