The OnePlus 6 is out and about, but if for some reason you are not totally convinced with the device, we’ve got some alternatives for you to look at. The latest flagship from OnePlus is a great phone, and everybody loves it. It features a new glass design, an even bigger display than the previous 5T, the latest Snapdragon 845 processor, up to 8GB of RAM, 256GB of internal storage, fast charging, and much more.
However, there are plenty of OnePlus 6 alternatives available in the market that you can go for if your heart is just not set on the 6. It’s okay, we will not judge you. So, we are going to talk about smartphones that cost similar and also are in the same league(or similar) as the OnePlus 6 in terms of performance, camera, hardware, etc.
For example, you’ve got the newly announced Xiaomi Mi 8, then there’s the Huawei Honor 10, the Samsung Galaxy A8 Plus, the Vivo X21, and the Xiaomi Mi Mix 2S. These are some of the alternatives you can look at when considering the OnePlus 6. Sure, some of them may not be as powerful as the OnePlus 6, but they are still in the same price range.
Xiaomi Mi 8
The latest flagship from Xiaomi, the Mi 8, is a very good alternative if you aren’t impressed with the OnePlus 6. The Mi 8, comes in three variants, the standard Mi 8, the Explorer Edition which features a transparent back and an in-display fingerprint scanner, and the Mi 8 SE. The SE is the cheapest of all with less powerful hardware and smaller display.
The specifications of the Mi 8 is similar to that of the OnePlus 6. They both use the Snapdragon 845 processor, they both have a full HD+ AMOLED display with a notch, and they also have a dual-rear camera setup. However, the Mi 8 has a proper 3D Face recognition tech on the front, which is used for unlocking the device and is much more secure than OnePlus 6’s Face Unlock. The AMOLED display on the Mi 8 is also super bright at 600 nits.
The Xiaomi Mi 8 hasn’t been launched in India yet, but when it is available, it will be priced around Rs. 35000 onwards. The Mi 8 is also a very good looking iPhone X clone.
Huawei Honor 10
Are you bored of the same old black or white color options for your smartphone? The Honor 10 does it differently, and it does it well. If color is your problem, then you should definitely go for the Honor 10 Phantom Blue. This color is insane and all your friends and family are going to want it.
It’s not just the design though, as the Honor 10 is a very good alternative for the OnePlus 6. It features a slightly smaller 5.84-inch full HD+ AMOLED display, the HiSilicon Kirin 970 processor(which Honor claims to be better than the Snapdragon 845), a dual-camera setup with AI prowess, a 24MP front camera, fast charging with a 3400mAh battery, front mounted fingerprint scanner, a notch, all at a price of Rs.32,999. It’s cheaper than the OnePlus 6, but similar in specifications, if not the same. And that Phantom Blue is really going to brighten up your day.
Vivo X21
Vivo has been quite well in the smartphone space, thanks to new innovative tech and being the first of many things. The Vivo Apex is one such phone, but the Vivo X21 is also a giant leap for the smartphone manufacturer in India.
The new Vivo X21, available in India now, is the first smartphone in the country to feature an in-display fingerprint scanner. In terms of hardware and performance, it isn’t as powerful as the OnePlus 6. The phone comes with a Snapdragon 660 processor, up to 6GB of RAM, a 6.28-inch Full HD+ AMOLED display with a notch, dual-rear camera setup, a 12MP front camera, a 3,200mAh, and so on.
If you are choosing the Vivo X21 over the OnePlus 6, then it probably isn’t for performance. This is a mid-range device, but it is still a good phone. It is, however, priced at Rs. 35,999 in India, which is similar to OnePlus 6, but not as good a phone. Still, a good alternative if you want to try some new technology.
Samsung Galaxy A8 Plus
The Galaxy A8 Plus from Samsung is a mid-range device, so if you’re looking for performance, we would suggest you scroll down. However, the Galaxy A8 Plus is a good looking device, has an IP68 certification, and is cheaper than the OnePlus 6 and the other alternatives in this list. The phone features a 6-inch AMOLED display with slim bezels and the 18.5:9 aspect ratio.
Unlike last year’s model, this one has the fingerprint sensor at the back, below the camera model. Samsung has equipped the A8 Plus with their Exynos 7885 SoC, 6GB of RAM, 64GB of internal storage, and a single 16MP camera at the back. At the front though, the phone has dual cameras, and it also features a 3500mAh battery.
The Samsung Galaxy A8 Plus is priced at Rs. 32,999 in India, so yes, if you want better selfies and an IP68 certification, then this is the phone for you.
Xiaomi Mi Mix 2S
The successor to the Mi Mix 2 isn’t available in India yet, but it should soon be. The Mi Mix 2S is a great phone, and it has the features to be a very good OnePlus 6 alternative.
The phone is equipped with a 5.99-inch Full HD+ AMOLED display and 18:9 aspect ratio. In terms of design, the phone looks similar to the Mi Mix 2, except for the dual-camera setup on the 2S. Internally, the phone features the Snapdragon 845 processor, up to 8GB of RAM, and 256GB of internal storage. There’s a dual-camera setup at the back, a 5MP front camera, and a 3400mAh battery that supports Quick Charge 3.0.
The phone isn’t available in India yet, but we expect the base variant to be priced around Rs. 35,000. For that price, and for the specs, this is indeed a very good alternative to the OnePlus 6.
There you are, some of the best OnePlus 6 alternatives that you can buy or will be able to buy soon. Which one have you decided on?
