At an event held in China last month, HMD Global announced its first smartphone with an iPhone X style notch on the top, the mid-range Nokia X6. While the Nokia X6 has only been announced for the Chinese market so far, there is a possibility that the smartphone will be made available in markets outside of China in the future. In this post, we will be taking a look at the top five features of the latest Nokia mid-range smartphone.

Nokia X6: Top Five Features

  1. The first key feature of the new Nokia X6 is undoubtedly the 5.8-inch Full HD+ display. As we mentioned above, the Nokia X6 is actually the first smartphone from HMD Global to feature a notched display. Thanks to the notch on the top, the panel features 1080 x 2280 Full HD+ resolution with a 19:9 aspect ratio. Protecting the 5.8-inch sized IPS display is a layer of Corning Gorilla Glass 3.
  2. The second most impressive feature of the Nokia X6 is the 16MP + 5MP dual-camera setup on the back of the phone. While the primary 16MP RGB sensor is coupled with a f/2.0 aperture lens, the secondary 5MP monochrome sensor with a f/2.2 aperture lens. To help users take brilliant photos, the X6 comes equipped with AI technology with deep image learning capabilities. It offers an AI portrait mode as well as intelligent scene recognition feature.
  3. The third feature is the impressive 16-megapixel selfie snapper on the front. On paper, the 16MP selfie snapper on the Nokia X6 is very similar to the one on the more expensive Nokia 7 Plus. It possibly uses the exact same sensor with 16-megapixel resolution and 1.0um pixel size, coupled with a f/2.0 aperture lens. The only key difference is that the Nokia 7 Plus selfie camera uses ZEISS optics, while the one on the Nokia X6 does not. In terms of features, the front camera supports AI selfies with bokeh effects, AR stickers, and Face Unlock.
  4. The next noteworthy feature of the Nokia X6 is its performance. Nokia X6 is the first smartphone from HMD Global to be running on Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 636 octa-core processor. The 14nm processor is clocked at 1.8 GHz and comes with an Adreno 509 GPU. In terms of benchmark performance, the Snapdragon 636 is a decent improvement over the Snapdragon 630 chipset that powers the Nokia 7 and the Nokia 6 (2018).
  5. The fifth key feature of the Nokia X6 is fast-charging support. While the smartphone only packs a 3060mAh capacity battery, it comes with support for Qualcomm Quick Charge 3.0. The company claims the Nokia X6 battery can be charged up to the 50% mark in just 30 minutes, which is certainly impressive.

Nokia X6: Other Specifications

The Nokia X6 is available in three memory configurations in China – 4GB RAM + 32GB storage, 4GB RAM + 64GB storage, and 6GB RAM + 64GB storage. Like other budget Nokia Android smartphones, the Nokia X6 features Hybrid Dual-SIM slots and not a triple-slot configuration. Connectivity-wise, the smartphone supports Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac dual-band, Bluetooth 5.0 Low Energy, GPS with A-GPS, GLONASS, USB Type-C, and 4G VoLTE. The smartphone also features a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor. Nokia X6: Expected Price in India, Launch

The Nokia X6 will be positioned somewhere between the Nokia 6.1 and Nokia 7 Plus smartphones if and when it launches in India. As such, we expect the Nokia X6 to be priced somewhere around the Rs.20,000 mark. While nothing has been confirmed yet, HMD Global Chief Product Officer Juho Sarvikas hinted at the possibility of the Nokia X6 launching in markets outside China soon.
