Meizu 16 confirmed to feature Snapdragon 845, 8GB RAM, in-screen fingerprint reader

Meizu is working on the successor to the Meizu 15, and the company plans to launch the Meizu 16 very soon. A few days ago, Meizu founder Huang Zhang (a.k.a Jack Wong) confirmed in a forum post that the Meizu 16 will launch in August and that it will be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 chipset. Now, the founder has reportedly revealed more information about the company’s upcoming flagship and what Meizu is aiming to launch next year.

Going by the forum post, Zhang confirmed that the Meizu 16 series will have Snapdragon 845 and Snapdragon 710 variants. The higher-end variant will have 8GB of RAM. It was even mentioned that the phone will be accompanied by an in-screen fingerprint reader. However, it isn’t confirmed whether the in-screen fingerprint reader will be used by both the variants or only the higher-end variant. Both the variants will use bezel-less screens with Full HD+ resolution. The founder also went on to reveal a launch time frame of next year for the Meizu 16S, which will succeed to the Meizu 16.

Meizu 16, Meizu 16 Pro: Rumoured Features

The base variant of the Meizu 16 will feature a 5.6-inch screen, whereas the Pro variant will sport a 6.1-inch screen. Both variants will have a flat screen instead of a curved one, a screen-to-body ratio of more than 90%, and they will be 7.2mm thin. Along with the 8GB RAM variant, Meizu will also launch a 6GB RAM model. Storage options will be 64GB and 128GB. The higher-end variant is supposed to feature either 128GB or 256GB of internal storage configurations. On the software front, both Meizu 16 and Meizu 16 Pro are considered to boot Android 8.1 Oreo-based Flyme OS out of the box.


As far as the imaging is concerned, both upcoming Meizu phones might feature a dual-12MP camera setups at the rear and 20MP selfie camera at the front. The base model is expected to come packed with a 3080mAh battery (8V, 3A), and the Pro variant could feature a battery capacity of 3600mAh. Both phones will be compatible with fast charging mechanisms, and on top of that, the Pro variant of the Meizu 16 is expected to feature 10W wireless charging. There’s will be no NFC on any of these phones if the information turns out to be true.

Meizu 16, Meizu 16 Pro: Rumoured Pricing

If the rumoured pricing of the smartphones turns out to be true, the Meizu 16 with 6GB RAM and 64GB of internal storage might retail for CNY 2,999 (approximately, Rs. 31,766). The variant with 6GB RAM and 128GB storage might be priced at CNY 3,299 (approximately, Rs. 34,946). The Meizu 16 Pro with 6GB RAM and 128GB storage is expected to priced at CNY 3,699 (approximately Rs. 39,168), while the top-end variant with 8GB RAM and 256GB storage might sell for CNY 3,999 (approximately, Rs. 42,345) in China.
