Last week, the duo behind the YouTube channel PimpiTronic uploaded a video showcasing Xiaomi’s upcoming Mi A2 Android smartphone. However, the video was taken down shortly after it was uploaded. While the video has now disappeared from the internet forever, the duo has put up a new post on their website discussing some of the key hardware specifications of the smartphone. They have also shared an image showing the AnTuTu score achieved by the handset. The AnTuTu listing also confirms the handset’s codename – Jasmine.
Mi A2: AnTuTu Listing Confirms Key Specs Yet Again
The Mi A2 TENAA listing has once again confirmed that the Mi A2 will, in fact, be based on the Mi 6X. It feature the same 5.99-inch Full HD+ resolution display and an 18:9 aspect ratio as the Mi 6X as well as the Redmi Note 5 and Redmi Note 5 Pro smartphones. Under the hood, Xiaomi Mi A2 will be running on Qualcomm’s powerful mid-range Snapdragon 660 chipset clocked at 2.2 GHz. In terms of memory, the smartphone is expected to be available in 4GB RAM + 32GB storage, 4GB RAM + 64GB storage, and 6GB RAM + 128GB storage variants.
At the rear, Mi A2 will feature a 12MP + 20MP dual-camera setup, an upgrade over the 12MP + 5MP setup seen on the Redmi Note 5 Pro. On the front, however, the Mi A2 will have the same 20MP Sony IMX376 sensor. Just like its predecessor, the Mi A2 will not be the most impressive device in terms of battery life. Compared to the 4000mAh capacity battery inside the Redmi Note 5 Pro, the Mi A2 will only be equipped with a 3010mAh capacity unit. However, the smartphone will offer Qualcomm Quick charge 3.0 support for fast charging. For unlock the device, users will be able to use the Face Unlock feature or the rear-mounted fingerprint sensor. While the hardware will be more or less identical to the Mi 6X, the Mi A2 will be running on stock Android 8.1 Oreo OS instead of MIUI 9.5.
Mi A2: Expected Price in India, Launch Date
As revealed by a Swiss retailer listing recently, the Mi A2 is expected to start at 250 EUR (Rs.19,700 approx.) in European markets for the base 32GB variant. In India, however, we expect the base variant to be priced around the Rs.16,000 mark. The 6GB RAM variant, on the other hand, could be priced closer to the Rs.20,000 mark.
The Swiss retailer listing had also revealed that the smartphone will go on sale in Europe on August 8th, which suggests we can expect the Mi A2 to be launched in India by the end of July or in the first week of August.
