Huawei has started rolling out a new software update for its flagship P20 Pro smartphone (review), improving the camera experience. Users who have received the update claim the latest update comes with automatic super slow-motion video capture, similar to the feature offered by Samsung on its latest flagship smartphones. Along with camera improvements, the software update also includes the June Android security patch and a few other enhancements. However, it should be noted that the update isn’t yet available via the OTA route. For now, it is possible to update to the latest B131 firmware using the Huawei Recovery Updater only.
Huawei P20 Pro Latest Software Update: What’s New
According to users on XDA Developers forum, the update is arriving as firmware version B131 and focusses mainly on camera improvements. After you install the update on your Huawei P20 Pro, you will notice that the smartphone will have gained the ability to detect motion and automatically start capturing in the super slow motion mode, similar to the Samsung Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9 Plus smartphones. Previously, users wanting to capture slow-motion shots had to manually hit the recording button, which could sometimes prove to be quite tricky. Apart from the new feature, users also report changes to the UI design of the camera app. Huawei has moved the zoom button lower down. The Selfie Portrait mode has reportedly been improved as well.
In addition to the camera-specific changes, the update offers power consumption optimization for longer usage, improved system performance and stability, and optimized wallpaper display. Finally, the update brings the latest Android security patch dated June 1, 2018.
