After a slew of speculations, the Oppo Find X smartphone finally had its official moment of unveiling in Paris. The major specifications of the phone were interestingly revealed ahead of the launch in the form of a leak and a hands-on video. The launch event worked as a seal of confirmation for all the leaked specs that were ultimately proven right. Other than its powerful array of specs, it is the placement of cameras on the Find X that took the limelight. Let’s take a look at what the pop-up camera is all about along with other specs.

OPPO Find X: All About That Pop!

Oppo has integrated a tiny motorized mechanism into the top panel of the Find X to incorporate a notch less all screen design. This motorised mechanism stays hidden until you launch the camera app, which triggers it. As soon as you open the camera app, the top section of the front panel slides up and brings out a 25MP selfie camera for front clicks and a 16MP+20MP dual-camera setup at the rear. Closing the camera app sends the mechanism into the closing mode, and the section smoothly goes back to being hidden in the top section of the phone. The entire working of this element was shown at the launch event, and it looked smooth. This feature on the Find X gives it an edge over other phones with traditional camera placement.

The front camera in the pop-up panel supports Face Unlock tech like the iPhone X with infrared depth detection. Oppo calls this technology – O-Face. It allows users to securely sign-in under any light conditions. Oppo has integrated the Find X with the finest of features that also take on its closest rival, the iPhone X. The front camera on the Find X also supports portrait lighting effects for both front and rear clicks along with AR-based Omoji feature, which not only sounds like Apple’s Animoji but works like it too.

OPPO Find X: Specifications, Features

The Oppo Find X comes with a 6.4-inch OLED Panoramic Arc Screen with full HD+ resolution at 2340×1080 pixels and 93.5% screen to body ratio that is more than that of Vivo NEX S. The phone is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 chipset clubbed with 8GB of RAM and 256GB storage. It’s worth noting that the Find X also has another variant dubbed Find X Automobili Lamborghini special edition. As the name suggests, this variant has been made in collaboration with Lamborghini and also sports its logo on the rear panel. This edition is crafted with premium material, houses 512GB of internal storage and supports Super VOOC flash charging technology, which is claimed to charge the phone in just 35 minutes.

The front camera on the Find X houses 25MP lens with AI-assisted features that offer 3D beautification effects. The front camera AI also supports 3D emojis. On the rear, there is a dual-camera setup with 16MP f/2.0 primary sensor, and 20MP f/2.2 secondary sensor. The rear camera setup supports portrait mode along with automatic screen recognition that applies effects according to the scene detection and depth-of-field effects.

The Oppo Find X is backed with a 3730mAh battery. It’s worth noting that the Find X ditches the 3.5mm headphone jack for the USB Type-C. On the software side, the phone runs Android 8.1 Oreo-based Oppo’s Color OS 5.1 UI out-of-the-box.

OPPO Find X: Expected Price in India, Launch

Oppo Find X is priced at €999 (approx. Rs. 78,500) for the standard variant and €1699 (approx. Rs. 1,33,795). The standard model will be available in Bordeaux Red and Glacier Blue colour options. Oppo will start shipping the phone in August.

As of now, there is no information regarding the Find X’s launch in India, but Oppo India recently teased the launch of the phone that sort of hints that the phone will most likely make its way to the Indian shores. Given its specs, the Find X will rival Samsung’s Galaxy S9 series and Huawei’s P20 Pro.

OPPO Find X: Complex Yet Distinctive

The Oppo Find X is going to be a complex buy, given that the phone’s sophisticated sliding mechanism for the camera could make it prone to some issues and damage. But the design of the Find X stands distinctive in a market where most of the other phones are blindly taking on iPhone X‘s notch design. Oppo took a bold step forward by attaining an almost all-screen design along with a unique camera placement mechanism.
