Earlier this month, we brought to you the first images and video renders of the 6.1-inch and 6.5-inch iPhone variants, both of which are expected to debut in September this year. We have now managed to access 5K CAD-based renders and a 360-degree video showing Google’s upcoming Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL smartphones, thanks to our source @OnLeaks. Google’s third-generation Pixel smartphones are expected to debut somewhere around October this year.

The renders clearly show that Google will also be embracing the notch this year, similar to most other Android OEMs. As you can see in the renders above, the bigger Pixel 3 XL features a notch at the top, narrower in comparison to the notch on the iPhone X, just like most other notched Android smartphones we have seen so far. The smaller Pixel 3, however, will not feature a notch at the top. However, the bezels do appear to be slimmer compared to its predecessor. This suggests the Pixel 3 might feature an 18:9 aspect ratio, although the screen-to-body ratio may not be very impressive. According to our source, the Google Pixel 3 will have a display measuring roughly 5.4-inches, while the Pixel 2 XL (review) successor is going to have a 6.2-inch sized display. Since the bigger Pixel 3 XL will have a notch at the top, we can expect it to have a taller 19:9 aspect ratio. The renders also seem to confirm a Bloomberg report from earlier this year that claimed the duo will feature two front-facing cameras. However, there is also a possibility that the second module seen in these renders could simply be the ambient light sensor. We can also see that both the smartphones feature front-facing stereo speakers, just like their predecessors. As for physical dimensions, the Pixel 3 will measure 145.6 x 68.2 x 7.9mm, while the Pixel 3 XL will measure 158 x 76.6 x 7.9mm. However, both smartphones will measure 8.6mm thin if we account for the rear camera bump.
Now let us go over some of the other design highlights revealed by these renders. Starting with the Pixel 3, we can see that the smartphone features a single camera on the back, with an LED flash module next to it. Positioned slightly below is a circular fingerprint sensor and the Google logo placed towards the bottom of the hands. The rear panel itself appears to be very similar to that of the Pixel 2, with a small glass portion on the top and the rest of the back panel made out of metal. At the bottom, we have a USB Type-C port and a SIM card tray. There are no buttons on the right side of the device, while the left side has the volume rocker and the turquoise-finished power button. The bigger Pixel 3 XL looks more or less identical to the Pixel 3 from the back. It too comes with a single camera on the back, which might disappoint some fans out there. Rest of the key design elements are also identical to the smaller Pixel 3.
Google Pixel 3, Pixel 3 XL: Expected Features, Specifications
The Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL are both expected to be powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 845 octa-core processor under the hood. There is no word yet on how much RAM or storage the third-generation Pixel phones will offer, although we would like to see Google equip at least the Pixel 3 XL with 6GB of RAM. Rest of the key specs of the upcoming Pixel smartphones remain a complete mystery at this point.
