Xiaomi has been setting milestones with the launch of every new phone. The Chinese manufacturer is now among the major smartphone manufacturers across the globe with markets in many countries. Xiaomi’s recently launched iPhone X-style Mi 8, Mi 8 Explorer Editon, and Mi 8 SE smartphones have already hit a milestone in terms of sales in just 18 days from launch. Of course, this achievement by Xiaomi is being compared to the sales mark touched by the OnePlus 6.

Mi 8 Hits 1 Million Sales in China

Xiaomi has sold over 1 million units of the Mi 8 smartphone in less than a month. The company’s spokesperson, Donovan Sung confirmed it via Twitter. He also pointed out that the flagship managed to touch such an impressive mark in just 18 days. To recall, the Mi 8 series was launched in China on June 5, 2018. All the three phones in the series were loaded with flagship-level features, but the talking about the three was their similarities with Apple’s iPhone X. Of course, the base of these similarities was the notch design that Xiaomi implemented after drawing inspiration from the iPhone X, which did not surprise us as almost every Chinese phone manufacturer is trying to do that such as OnePlus, Huawei, Vivo, and others.

The notch design seems to have gone down well for the Mi 8 series in China as it managed to achieve unprecedented sales numbers in a span of 18 days.

Mi 8’s Dominance Over OnePlus 6 in its Homeland

Xiaomi Mi 8 series success in China has also sparked debate on Xiaomi’s dominance over OnePlus. The Mi 8 series includes a standard Mi 8 variant, an Explorer Edition with the in-display fingerprint sensor, and the MI 8 SE with a mid-range Snapdragon 710 chipset. Cumulatively, all the three variants have sold 1 million units in China. With the Mi 8 series success, many were quick to draw comparisons with the OnePlus 6 that attained 1 million unit sale in 22 days. However, it must be noted that the Mi 8 series achieved the envious figure in its homeland while the OnePlus 6 sold 1 million units globally. We think this also somewhat hints at Xiaomi’s dominance in its homeland.
