Mi A2: Specifications, Features
When it comes to hardware specifications, the Mi A2 will be identical to the Mi 6X, which was launched in China in April this year. The smartphone features a 5.99-inch sized IPS LCD display with 1080 x 2160 Full HD+ resolution and a tall 18:9 aspect ratio. Not only will the Mi A2 be a significant upgrade over the Mi A1 in terms of display size, it will also offer superior performance thanks to a powerful octa-core 14nm Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 chipset running under the hood. In the memory department, the Mi A2 is expected to be offered in a total of three configurations – 4GB RAM + 32GB storage, 4GB RAM + 64GB storage, and 6GB RAM + 128GB storage.
Moving on to imaging, the Mi A2 will boast an impressive 12MP + 20MP AI dual-camera setup with AI scene recognition and AI Portrait mode to capture stunning portraits with a DSLR-like background blur effect. On the front of the handset will be a 20-megapixel snapper with AI Face Unlock and an LED flash. If there is one area where the Mi A2 will be slightly less impressive than the Redmi Note 5 Pro, it is battery life. The Mi A2 will be backed by a 3010mAh capacity battery with fast charging support, significantly smaller than the 4000mAh capacity battery powering the Redmi Note 5 Pro. In addition to the facial recognition feature, users will be able to unlock the Mi A2 using the rear-mounted fingerprint sensor as well. On the software front, Xiaomi’s upcoming smartphone will be running stock Android 8.1 Oreo operating system out of the box. Being an Android One smartphone, Mi A2 should receive regular security updates and likely two major OS upgrades as well.
Mi A2: Expected Price in India
The Xiaomi Mi A2 price in India is expected to start above the Rs.15,000 mark in India. As you may have figured from the specifications above, the smartphone will offer a few significant upgrades compared to the Redmi Note 5 Pro. Since the Redmi Note 5 Pro 4GB RAM + 64GB storage variant is priced in India at Rs.14,999 currently, we can expect the Mi A2 4GB RAM + 64GB storage variant to be priced at Rs.16,999. The 6GB RAM variant of the Android One smartphone is likely to be priced just under the Rs.20,000 mark. Its predecessor, the Mi A1 was launched in India at Rs.14,999 last year.
