Vivo could launch the NEX A and NEX S smartphones in India at an event on July 19th.

Vivo NEX A

Earlier this month, a report had claimed a Vivo NEX series smartphone would be launched in India in the third week of July. It appears the report was, in fact, accurate as Vivo today sent out invites to an event on the 19th of July, where the manufacturer will be launching at least one NEX series smartphone in the country.

Vivo NEX S, NEX A: India Launch Set for July 19th

While the invite makes it quite clear that the company will be debuting an NEX series smartphone in India on July 19th, it is still not clear if both the NEX A and NEX S smartphones will be launched in the country or only the more affordable NEX A will be arriving in India. The previous report from 91Mobiles had suggested that only the NEX A might be making its way to the Indian market as their source had suggested the smartphone would be priced at around Rs.40,000 in the country.

Vivo NEX S, NEX A: Expected Price in India

Since the report from 91Mobiles was accurate with regards to the launch timeframe, we expect the Vivo NEX A to be priced at somewhere around the Rs.40,000 mark when it launches in India. Vivo’s current “flagship” model in India, the X21, is priced at Rs.35,999. The Vivo NEX S, on the other hand, which offers superior hardware specifications, is likely to be priced around the Rs.50,000 mark in case Vivo launches it in India.

Vivo NEX A: Specifications, Features

The NEX A sports the same 6.59-inch Super AMOLED display as the NEX S with 1080 x 2316 Full HD+ resolution and a 19.3:9 aspect ratio. Under the hood, NEX A is powered by a less powerful Qualcomm Snapdragon 710 octa-core SoC with an Adreno 616 GPU. It is also less impressive in the memory department with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage. At the rear is a similar 12MP + 5MP dual-camera setup, although the NEX A lacks the 4-axis OIS. Along with a dual-camera setup, the back of the handset also houses a fingerprint sensor since the NEX A lacks an in-display fingerprint sensor. For selfies, the handset includes the same 8MP pop-up module. Another key difference is the single AK4376A DAC in the NEX A. Rest of the key specifications, however, remain identical to the NEX S. In terms of software, it runs on the same Funtouch OS 4.0, based on the Android 8.1 Oreo operating system.
