
Since the past few months, many smartphone makers have released Android 8.0 Oreo updates to their smartphone. While some companies released the official stable versions of the update, other brands released at least beta versions of the update.
Now, two Chinese smartphone makers—Huawei and Honor— have confirmed the list of their devices which will receive the Android 8.0 Oreo. Earlier today, both these smartphone brands confirmed the devices which will be getting the Android 8.0 Oreo update in a few days.
Huawei Android 8.0 Oreo Update List: Compatible Devices
A few days ago, it was being reported that Huawei’s flagship smartphone from 2016, the Huawei P9, won’t be getting the Android 8.0 Oreo update. Well, there’s good news for all the P9 users: Huawei’s China unit has officially confirmed that the phone will be getting the Android 8.0 Oreo-based EMUI 8.0 update.
Apart from the Huawei P9, the company has also confirmed that the Huawei P9 Plus and the Huawei Mate 8 will also get the Oreo update. As far as the release of the software update rollout goes, the Chinese smartphone maker said that it will start rolling the update from June 30. However, it hasn’t mentioned whether this rollout will be for users in China or global users. It is confirmed that only 20,000 units will receive the update in the first phase.
Honor Android 8.0 Oreo Update List: Compatible Devices
Moving onto Honor devices, the company has confirmed that the Honor 8, Honor V8, Honor Note 8, and the Honor Play 6X will get the Android 8.0 Oreo-based EMUI 8.0 update. The release of this the update will be limited to 20,000 users as well and officially opened to other devices in the near future. If we look at the statistics of the Honor smartphones, its devices released from 2016 to 2018 will be updated to Android 8.0 Oreo.
As far as the newly released smartphones go, all its latest handsets including the Honor 9i, Honor Play 7A, Honor Play 7C, and the Honor Play 7 come pre-installed with Android 8.0 Oreo-based EMUI 8.0 out of the box. On the other hand, the Honor 10 runs EMUI 8.1 based on Android 8.1. The recently announced Honor Play runs Android 8.1 Oreo-based EMUI 8.2 out of the box.
Since the official confirmation of the latest Android 8.0 Oreo update schedule is approved by both the companies, we also can expect the rollout to happen in India in the next few months.
