Xiaomi released its latest Mi 8 series at the end of May this year. The Mi 8 is a flagship smartphone and comes in three different variants. There’s the standard Mi 8, the mid-range Mi 8 SE, and the top of the range Mi 8 Explorer Edition.
You can get the Mi 8 smartphone with either 64GB, 128GB, or 256GB of internal storage. However, all of the three storage variants of the Mi 8 come with only 6GB of RAM. Now though, two new variants of the smartphone has appeared on Chinese verification site TENAA.
Xiaomi Mi 8 – 4GB and 8GB RAM Variants
According to the listings on TENAA, Xiaomi might soon release a 4GB and 8GB RAM variant of the Mi 8 smartphone. This would mean that the price of the Mi 8 could start at a lower point than what it is being sold for now.
The Mi 8 with 6GB RAM and 64GB of storage starts at 2699 Yuan, so a 4GB RAM variant could be priced below 2500 Yuan. The storage configuration would still remain the same, which means that you could still get a 128GB or 256GB variant with 4GB RAM if you wanted. That amount of RAM isn’t bad, especially for a price below $375. It is enough to run all your apps without any hiccups, because other configuration will remains the same.
Either that, or the 64GB variant would come with 4GB RAM, the 128GB one would have 6GB, and the 256GB would have 8GB RAM. Whatever the case, we should hear about the new models very soon. As of now, only the Mi 8 Explorer Edition comes with 8GB of RAM. The Mi 8 smartphones are currently only being sold in China, Franc, and Russia. However, the company recently confirmed that it would start selling the phone in other regions this month.
The Mi 8 series of smartphone was quite a hit in China, as it managed to sell over 1 million units in just 18 days. This includes all of the Mi 8 devices, such as the Mi 8 SE, and the Mi 8 Explorer Edition. By releasing another Mi 8 with a lower price tag, we expect the sale numbers to go even higher. And the phone is still not available in most regions yet.
We expect the phone to be announced in India in July as well, and this is a huge market for Xiaomi. With a starting price tag of around Rs. 26,000 for the 4GB RAM variant of the Mi 8, expect it to sell like hot cakes.
