The much-awaited announcement of Reliance Jio has been welcomed by patrons in the 41st Annual General Meeting of the company. This meeting was headed by the chairman of the Reliance Industries “Mukesh Ambani” who made the big announcement of the date. The Jio GigaFiber is an FTTH (fibre-to-the-home) broadband services that will be bringing along a set-top box for televisions. This FTTH-enabled set-top box will further allow voice command feature and voice calls via TV (calling feature).
Currently, Jio GigaFiber is being tested with its beta trials. The registration to enroll for a Jio GigaFiber connection starts on August 15 of this year, 2018. After the beta trial, the company will provide the service prioritizing the areas where they receive the maximum welcome.
Further, the company also promises that these services will be made available in 1100 cities across the country at a speed of 1Gbps. The automation features and home security will be aided through a partnership with Byju. Alongside, the priority will be given for those who are residing in feasible areas to get connectivity, as of now.
Jio GigaTV: With TV Calling
It should be noted that Jio GigaFiber is offering two services. One is Jio GigaFiber router and the other one is Jio GigaTV Set-top box. The company claims that the GigaFiber router is suitable for using the Internet services in multiple devices at a speed of 1Gbps. And, the other one, Jio GigaTV Set-top box can be utilized for home entertainment services, especially for television services. The company was also found touting that the FTTH service introduced now will be allowing video conferencing through television medium; therefore, there will not be any need to crowd the smartphone screen with multiple tabs, henceforth.
Along with Jio GigaTV, the subscribers will be able to watch ultra-high definition resolution screen with 4K resolution. This service will be offering around 600 channels along with millions of movies and songs. As mentioned before, there is voice command feature enabled along with this FTTH Jio GigaFiber. Over the top feature of this innovation is the Jio GigaTV calling where the user can call the Jio GigaFiber enabled TV and voice chat with the TV. These callings can be done to any smart devices, such as tablets, smartphones, connected to the Jio service. However, the TV has to be connected to the new Jio GigaFiber’s FTTH services.
Jio SmartHome Devices:
Also, the Reliance Industries announced Jio SmartHome accessories in addition to Jio GigaFiber FTTH service. These smart home solutions can be used by devices like doorbells, TV camera, plugs etc. These services can be managed centrally through the Jio’s exclusive app MyJio. Both Smart Home services and Jio GigaFiber can be configured by Jio engineers within one hour of time.
