A few weeks back, Xiaomi CEO Lei Jun had revealed that the company plans to release the Mi Max 3 phablet in the month of July. Since we have entered July already, Xiaomi has started teasing the upcoming launch in China. Earlier today, Xiaomi posted an old promo video that it had used for the first generation Mi Max back in May 2016 on its Weibo page. Quite clearly, the company is hinting at the impending launch of the third generation model, which will most likely make its debut with the Mi Max 3 moniker. Along with the Mi Max 3, rumors suggest Xiaomi will also debut a better speced variant of the phablet dubbed Mi Max 3 Pro. While the Mi Max 3 was certified by TENAA last month, the Mi Max 3 Pro received NCC certification earlier this week.
Mi Max 3, Mi Max 3 Pro: Xiaomi Teases Old Mi Max Promotional Video
The old Mi Max promotional video highlights the huge display size of the phablet. Thanks to its huge 6.44-inch Full HD IPS display, the Mi Max received immense love from consumers in China as well as India. Now that Xiaomi has started teasing the Mi Max 3 launch, we can expect the company to share the launch date very soon. The Mi Max 3 and Mi Max 3 Pro will not be the only new smartphones that Xiaomi will be launching this month. On the 24th of July, the Chinese company will be unveiling the Mi A2 at a global event to be held in Madrid, Spain.
Mi Max 3, Mi Max 3 Pro: Rumored Specifications, Features
The Mi Max 3 is expected to come with a 6.9-inch Full HD+ IPS panel with 1080 x 2160 resolution and an 18:9 aspect ratio. While the display size will be bigger than the Mi Max 2, the phablet itself isn’t going to be very different in terms of physical size, thanks to the bezel-less front. Under the hood, the standard Mi Max 3 is expected to be powered by an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 636 chipset, paired with up to 6GB of RAM. The phablet will also feature a dual-camera setup on the back with AI-powered features like AI scene recognition and an AI Portrait mode. On the front of the phablet could be an 8MP selfie camera with AI Face Unlock and AI Portrait mode features. The Mi Max 3 is also rumored to sport a massive 5000mAh battery with fast charging support, a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor, and an IR blaster. In terms of software, we expect the Mi Max 3 to ship with Android 8.1 Oreo-based MIUI 9.5 out of the box.
The Mi Max 3 Pro, on the other hand, is rumored to be powered by a more powerful Qualcomm Snapdragon 710 octa-core processor coupled with up to 6GB of RAM and 128GB of built-in storage. Rest of the key specifications of the Mi Max 3 Pro are likely to be similar to the Mi Max 3.
