Mi Mix 3 Compatible Xiaomi Mi Wireless Charger Spotted Online; May Support Quick Charge 3.0

The disc-shaped wireless charger has just received a Qi certification from the Wireless Power Consortium, which makes it quite ready for launch.


In exciting news today is the unexpected leak of a Xiaomi MI wireless charger, and speculation is that it might just be compatible with the Xiaomi MI MIX 3 smartphone. The Xiaomi MI MIX 3 is expected to release soon at Rs 38,999 with a 6GB RAM and 64GB non-expandable internal storage. Since the MI wireless charger also looks ready for release, speculation is rife that the charger was made for the Mi MIX 3 phone and future launches.

Mi Wireless Charger: Leaked Online

The Xiaomi MI wireless charger was leaked on the official website of the Wireless Power Consortium (WPC), the multinational tech consortium that promotes the manufacturing of wireless chargers. Tech buff Roland Quandt on Twitter drew attention to the product getting a Qi listing on the official website of WPC, with the registration date July 4.

“Xiaomi is making a new Qi Wireless charger, that just got certified by the WPC. No further clues, but this might be for the Mi Mix 3 (???)” he posted on Twitter.

The WPC website says the charger is a power class 0 transmitter and has a level 5 power potential.

Soon as the news broke out, gadget geeks got talking about the likelihood of the wireless charger having been made for the Mi Mix 3 smartphone, whose release date is not yet confirmed by Xiaomi, even as there is growing anticipation about it. Since the universal Qi certificate has been awarded to the product and the smartphone is yet to be launched, it makes sense that Xiaomi releases the both of them together. If the wireless charger isn’t compatible with the new Mi Mix 3 phone, it would make no sense to hold off the release of either of the products. With wireless charging on the rise, geeks were quick to put two and two together and conclude that the new wireless charger has been made for the Xiaomi Mi Mix 3 phone, which is the successor to the highly-successful Mi Mix 2s.

Mi MIX 3: Expected Price, Launch Date

The new smartphone in the Mi Mix line-up is yet to find a launch date confirmation, and is still being speculated to launch anywhere from July end to September. A leaked teaser of the phone, just a day ago, created much buzz on the web as it purportedly gave away the release month. In the teaser, a marker points to ‘2018.9’, which could mean September 2018, but Xiaomi hasn’t given its word about the same yet. The smartphone is expected to launch at Rs Rs 38,999.

Mi MIX 3: Rumoured Specifications, Features

The Xiaomi Mi Mix 3 has been getting great attention as it is seen to challenge Oppo and Vivo’s best new phones. The leaked teaser of the Mi Mix 3 shows a pop-up camera and a bezel-less display, and rumoured specs include a 6.4-inch Full HD+ display, Android Oreo OS, a 4,000 mAh battery and a 12MP+12MP dual rear camera setup. The fingerprint reader would be on the rear side and the phone is expected to have light sensors. The chipset will be a Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 SoC paired to an octa-core 2.45 GHz processor. Made out of aluminium, the phone will be available only in black and white colours for the launch, and the battery is compatible for quick charging v3.0.
