A few days ago, speculations about Nokia launching a new smartphone on July 11 had emerged. It is being expected that the upcoming smartphone would be the Nokia 5.1 Plus, which had recently received the TENAA certification in China. Nokia had not confirmed any event or handed out any clue about the upcoming device until now.
Nokia China has now revealed that it will conduct a new product launch in China on July 11, 2018, and the phone will be from the Nokia X series. Information published by Nokia on the Chinese social media website Weibo mentions that the new smartphone is going to be a Full-Screen device and that it could possibly run Android P Beta. Considering that the new product is from the Nokia X series, HMD Global might debut the Nokia X6 globally. Some rumours even hint that Nokia is considering to launch the Nokia X6 as the Nokia 6.1 Plus for the global market.
Nokia X6: Features, Specifications
The Nokia X6 was exclusively launched in May 2018 for the Chinese market. It was Nokia’s first smartphone to embrace an iPhone X-style notch. The smartphone sports a 5.8-inch IPS LCD screen with a Full HD+ resolution (2280×1080 pixels), resulting in a pixel density of 432ppi and 19:9 aspect ratio. The display is covered by 2.5D curved glass and a screen-to-body ratio of the phone is 85 per cent.
Under the hood, the Nokia X6 is equipped with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 636 chipset with an octa-core 1.8GHz CPU and the Adreno 509 GPU. The smartphone is available in three memory configurations: 4GB RAM+32GB internal storage, 4GB RAM+64GB internal storage, and 6GB of RAM+64GB internal storage. Apart from its internal storage, the device offers expandable storage via microSD card slot (up to 256GB). On the software front, the Nokia X6 runs Android 8.1 Oreo out of the box. It has a USB Type-C port, dual-SIM card slot, dual-band Wi-Fi a/b/g/n/ac, Wi-Fi Direct, Bluetooth 5.0, and a 3.5mm headphone jack.
In terms of imaging, the Nokia X6 sports a 16MP+5MP dual-camera setup. The primary, 16MP camera has PDAF, f/2.0 aperture and 1.0µm pixels. The secondary, 5MP sensor offers in-depth calculation, f/2.2 aperture and 1.2µm pixels. The combination of the two sensors provides bokeh mode. For capturing selfies and making video calling, the device ships with a 16MP front-facing snapper. The smartphone comes packed with a 3060 mAh battery with support for Quick Charge 3.0. There’s also a fingerprint reader at its back.
Nokia X6: Indian Launch details
Moving onto the possible launch of the Nokia X6 in India, HMD Global is considering to bring it to the Indian market and it already has made the product page for the Indian website.
